QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Oct 8 2019, 10:01 AM) Pros: Decent build quality+cooling, decent input devices, decent audio quality, optional 144Hz, OK battery life (with Hybrid mode on), MUX (can turn on/off Optimus, if off you'll get max GPU performance), onsite warranty Decent? So it's not as good as forge 15 pro? But it's seriously the best value laptop after the discount. 5k+ with i7 9 gen + rtx and 1tb ssd + 1tb hhdCons: Red accents, heatsink quality can be hit or miss, new BIOS slightly reduces fan speed (though not a big issue from what I see) |

QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Oct 8 2019, 03:29 PM) So you're saying the 10 series not worth waiting for?I saw like some brands are already updating their processors with the 10series. Was tempted to buy. But no review so scared lol. 10.10 sale coming up, maybe I should use it to buy some older models on promo. |

QUOTE(Emily Ratajkowski @ Oct 8 2019, 04:31 PM) So you're saying the 10 series not worth waiting for? There’s 2 lines of CPU under 10th gen.I saw like some brands are already updating their processors with the 10series. Was tempted to buy. But no review so scared lol. 10.10 sale coming up, maybe I should use it to buy some older models on promo. One is Comet Lake, which as explained before, it’s just another rebrand of current 8th gen Whiskey Lake with practically no differences in performance or value. If it don’t come at an extra price, no harm getting it; but if it comes with 8th gen Whiskey Lake at a cheaper price, I will take it over 10th gen anyday. Another line is Ice Lake, which can be identify with their weird naming scheme i7-1065G7 and so. Those should have marginally better processing power and lower power consumption than current 8th-gen Whiskey Lake. They also have more up to par iGPU that can at last rival NVIDIA or AMD basic level dGPU like MX150 and do. But again, since the yield of this 10nm CPU is insufficient, don’t expect to find it in much of the laptops out there, and certainly won’t be on budget/sub RM3k laptop. This Ice Lake is also very dependent on the RAM speed for its iGPU performance, hence its gonna be paired with LPDDR4X soldered RAM like those in smartphones all the time. 8GB RAM laptop won’t be future proof enough, and 16GB model gonna cost an arm and leg more. QUOTE(ZM Fong @ Oct 8 2019, 11:27 PM) that one is carry in, not onsite - I thought you're referring to onsite? oh sorry i didnt specify clearly..i meant to say tat i am looking for laptops whose brand/manufacturer/supplier has service centers in SG and still accept carry in for laptops purchased in msia, apart from onsite warranty..definitely upgrade to 1650, 1050 is old card and noticeably less powerful need i7 for 1650 config They are not the same. Both are decent choices i think legion laptops have it but not sure if it also applies to laptops purchased through resellers (not lenovo own store)..normally resellers state "local manufacturer warranty" in the description.. need to pair 1650 with i7? hmm strange because for raven se nothing is stated in customization page and during checkout as well..does this mean they allow i5 with 1650 configuration? Hi all sifus here, I'm looking for a laptop, total dummy here so any input is greatly appreciated.
Budget : rm2.5k inclusive of those Microsoft Office programs Usage : Office work, mostly excel or words, browsing and maybe watching youtube Requirements : Nothing in particular, but prefer something slim and light so I can easily carry it around for work. Normal laptop screen size, is that 13-14? Thanks in advance This post has been edited by imbugz: Oct 9 2019, 02:25 PM |
