Doctor Sleep (2019)
Anybody here watched The Shining (1980)? Just in case you are still unclear (like some of the members in the audience at the cinema with me who loudly proclaimed, "there was Doctor Sleep 1, ah...??? How come I don't know one!?!"), this is the sequel to The Shining (1980). Many a people thinks that The Shining is one of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece. Not necessary Stephen King opinion, but alot of people think so. Just before you ask, no, I have never read The Shining nor Doctor Sleep in their book form. I have however also watched The Shining TV series, during the 90s, that is supposed to be closer to the book. I have a funny feeling that this movie is closer to being a sequel to the movie, rather than the book. And is it any good. Kiddies, this is a DELICIOUS sequel. They hired the right cast. They hired the right script writer. And the right director also delivered a great movie. The Wachowski brothers stated that for your sequel to be good, you usually have to expend the universe it is in (I am para-phrasing), and boy did the creative team behind this movie, expanded The Shining universe. Most sequels fall into giving you the same movie, only bigger. This movie did not even attempt to emulate anything that was done in the first movie at all, and then only bring everything to full circle in the third act. The result, as I had already stated, is DELICIOUS!! The new characters are so intriguing!! I ENJOYED this movie immensely!! I was blindsided and mesmerised/enthralled by the story. I only hope that it is SO successful, that Stephen King is paid enough money by his publishers to write an even more spectacular part 3. Hey, one can wish right? The above, is just, my two sen. |

KLAUS (Netflix, 2019)
5/5☆s To be honest, i went into this film not knowing what it was about at all - other than that Klaus is "Claus". Everything seems to hit the right note (for me at least). Beautifully animated and accompanied with a lovely score to carry the story from start to finish. Voice actors for the Characters were perfect » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I highly suggest you guys not read about the plot or summary, and just dive into it as clueless as i was. |

Frozen 2 (2019)
Hmmm... where to begin. First of all, living up to "Frozen" (2013) is going to be mighty challenging so expectations would be quite high. And secondly, "Let It Go" - - - how do you top this song? The sequel sees our gang going on an adventure through an enchanted forest. Great animation work as always, the voice acting is there, Olaf shines yet again, and some sparkly stuff thrown here and there haha... Not really into Disney Princesses films but Disney does know how to keep adult's attention and it certainly does here. Most of the humor are still geared for kids. I heard kids laughing the most It's great fun and this time around, the plot is definitely darker. So what is there to fault? Well, I wasn't fond of the musical numbers. Compared to the first, this one is "Just OK" to me. Nothing remotely close to "Let It Go". The other thing I didn't really like was the constant 'sombre' tone throughout - - some joy scattered but mostly dark tones. It does get better but overall, quite a moody / emo film Expected more, but what I got was OK at best. The ending (no spoilers) - - I didn't like it. At one point I thought, "That's it?" It is good, but not great. At best a 7.5/10 |

Abrupt ending... that's how I felt how the film ended. A film can be short with a nice ending, but Frozen 2's ending was abrupt.
Really, the sequel is totally inferior to the first one. I will be amazed if anyone manages to find it better than the first especially the musical numbers / tone |
