Just wondering, is it preferable to get the GPS module or it's fine to have the camera without the GPS?

So in between now -

Spend RM2xx for 70Mai Pro and DIY, or RM1xxx for proper installation for Thinkware/Blackvue...  As in, go all in and get the most out of the dashcam or just be content with 70MaiPro.

Does dashboard mat really help to reduce the reflection from the dashboard?

My mini 0906 was meant to be stuck directly onto the glass, but that didn't stop me from rummaging in the accessories from 6 action cams, finding a platform that could be screwed to a suction mount and sticking the dashcam onto it. I prefer having a dashcam that can quickly swivel in case I needed to capture some happening at the sides.

Generally speaking, yes a dashmat will cut down on reflections, but will not totally eliminate them. I'd suggest that you visit a car accessories shop on a sunny day and ask to try out various mats to see which material is least reflective. A dashmat will also reduce the ravages of the sun on your dashboard.

But I know of one exception (which you'll probably never encounter). Was in a friend's car on the way to a lunch function. He had to make a quick stop at his house to get some papers. As we approached his house, he asked me to open the glove compartment and take out the dashmat. I pulled out the most horrendous bright satin green mat that had been decorated with sparkly crystals sewn to it. I helped him put it on and the reflections were absolutely horrendous in the afternoon sun. He explained that if he did not use it, "nanti bini murka". So I guess she had lovingly made it for him. After we drove off from his house, he told me to take it off and put it back in the glove compartment

Is the viofo a129 parking record function in timelapse until something trigger it or it only record when something trigger it only?

And btw what is the meaning of “true parking function” dashcam?

Bought this Cuevia dash cam from thundermatch at rm99 each. Retail at Rm269 in the online website.

Overall not bad. Quite clear recordings. 1080p, motion sensor etc.

Viofo parking mode how ar? Got all there like thinkware?

Wait, I am a bit confused. So a proper parking mode means when car is parked, recording will be timelapse like 5 frame/sec. On motion or impact, it will go back to full speed recording.

Both viofo a129 and thinkware have it except thinkware does it better? What does better entails? Quality? Better motion/impact detection? Please enlighten, sifus.

Hello all, currently I am using cheapo dashcam (FOC from SA when bought the car  ), the one you usually those credit card sign up booth give out free, which finally failed after 1 year  can't record anymore.

Been thinking of changing since many months already, the idea of keep requiring taking out the SD card to delete the recording (yeah, no auto-loop function), else stop recording really very troublesome.

Any recommended cheap and good dashcam? Err.....budget RM150 possible?    Else, what is the entry level price for daschcam, at least with auto-loop function  ?

If possible, if got function to record after the engine shut off would be nice, coz you never know where some retards decide to use your car bonnet as canvas...too many crazy people around can't stand seeing car shinny and scratch free.

currently, I am looking at Xiaomi Mi Dashcam 1s. Yeah, budget way above what I stated. But, any thoughts?

No point scrimp on the budget, but, end up, when you need the image when needed most, ie during accident, the image or video is useless 

neither do i need super high end dash cam like i am filming professional live feed (coz I doubt anyone will be interested if with my driving skills or driving routine  )

So, what would you recommend for dashcam idiot like me?

Hi, just bought new car and thinking to install dashcam. Came across this thread and have been reading from beginning to end (skipping some pages). Starting to get a sense of specs and prices.
May I ask, if I buy from shopee / lazada, and don't want to DIY install, what is the usual price range for installation only at most shops? (Hidden wires).

I have never asked at shops but from my survey, shops charge around RM60-RM80 for front and rear installation. If you only do front, I guess they would charge around RM50. The front installation is actually very easy. The rear one would be the one that takes up a lot of work as need to tap into reverse light and pulling wire to rear is tough for sedans.

All rear dashcams I installed have reverse cam function. Didn't know those expensive ones don't have.

As for installation, my personal experience is sedans harder cause getting the wire through from inside cabin to trunk is a bit tricky. Other than that routing the wire is basically same.

A119v2 still have stock around. viofo will do the very last batch of manufacturing qty due to high demand order request from distributer. This will be the last batch of A119v2. Should be available after CNY holiday.

Thank you all for info. At least I have a ballpark figure before heading to accessories shop. I am totally zero ability in DIY, unless its just direct dashcam dangle usb cable to usb adapter. Don't mind paying somebody to do hidden wire.

Bought the viofo a129 IR saw the parking mode, okay la got timelapse.
Doesn’t mention anything about the thinkware like parking mode which record few sec before and after impact.
