When u review the mini 0906 pro, do us a favor and say a few words so we can hear how sensitive the mic is.

Suggested script:
With engine on and you in the driver seat, say in a normal speaking volume "Boleh settle sini ke Datuk?"
With engine on and you standing outside the driver's door with the window down, say in a normal speaking volume "You mau settle di balai ke di sini?"

Thanks!

i try to understand the 4G sim and parking mode. Is the parking mood footage will auto send to registered phone if anything is detected?
*
Do you mean the cloud feature of Thinkware?

U1000 and Q800 Pro can send parking notification alerts over 4G internet to the owner's phone for any impacts detected.

QUOTE(alandhw @ Dec 12 2019, 09:33 PM)
in another way of asking..the stolen car/ stolen dashcam, able to track?
*
If the dashcams have cloud features, yes you can track it. But only if the thieves don't disable the dashcam.

Anyone got a good place (reasonable price + good installation) in PJ area?

Thanks in advance!
*
Best to have an amount for the budget.

PJ can go to Sicurez in Sunway and take a look.

Most big brands have an official shop with installations.

Thanks -- budget around RM1k - 1.5k. (of course if got cheaper it would be good!)
Have my eye on the iRoad X9 as I like it's sleek design (not too bulky / big).
*
At the moment, try not to consider only iRoad first. You'll thank me later after you research more of it from other users.

QUOTE(josh5671 @ Dec 16 2019, 05:26 PM)
Suggest not go for x9, it doesn't perform as its price.

Thanks for this! You’ve just saved me a LOT of money.

given my limited budget — is there that one or two dash cam that everyone would go for? Also looking at Thinkware’s cheapest front and back option — would that do?
*
Can look at Thinkware F200, X700 or F770.

F200 is 1080 front & 720p rear. The other 2 is dual 1080p.

Meantime saw the blackvue high end ones and wow, those are amazing!

Wait for their new models if you can... Hopefully, they fixed some of the issues in the current models...

Also, Blackvue doesn't have a distributor in Malaysia yet...

Am thinking if I should up my budget to get the blackvue now. Really like their gps and over the cloud function... will certainly give peace of mind as I live in a condo.

Like the DR900 or 750.

Or am I just being shown the good and easy side?

Best to research more 1st before jumping laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'm more towards Thinkware since their F770 until now the U1000 whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

Hi yes you are right.
Reading about the U1000 and it looks impressive too. Are you using this yourself?

Does the app work with iOS? Understand some apps work better for the android and vice versa. May I know how does the app work in locating the car when the car is off? Is it purely gps?
*
Yeah. Using U1000 as my daily driver now.

Not sure about iOS though but didn't hear any issues after they fixed it for iOS13.

You'll need an internet hotspot in your car for the U1000 to communicate with you. Yes also GPS.

Ok I have some selections after some research and talking with people... would be good if I can have your opinion too. Both are below 2k with installation.

Option 1
Thinkware F200

Planning to do a tinting of 20 VLT for the rear and understand this model doesn’t have super night vision, will it affect the quality by a lot?

Option 2
Thinkware F770

Has super night vision which should solve the above issue but at 500 ringgit more.
BlackVue bit too expensive as it’s over 2.5k for a decent unit.
*
I've tested the F200 and F770 with LLumar Diamond 6 and both are fine. But not sure about darker tints though as it is a new law recently.

Super Night Vision 2.0 does help in a very dark environment though.

Do you remember the VLT of the tint?

For F770 - it’s only super night vision 1.0 right? The 2.0 is only F800 Pro correct?

Edited my earlier answer,  not sure if your assessment will change.
*
Diamond 6 is VLT 63%.

F770 is a mature model.

2.0 is in F800 Pro, Q800 Pro, and U1000

Noob question. Will my new car warranty will be void if I send my new car to install dashcam at after market place? Or just tell the sales person to do it before I collect my car?
*
Installing by not cutting or tapping any of the vehicle's wires will technically don't void any manufacturer warranty.

But knowing Malaysia's car manufacturer already stated that anything not install from the factory will void the warranty.

The salesperson will bring outside to install the dashcam for you and get a commission. You wouldn't know how they install the dashcam also.

Unless you get those optional dashcams accessories from car manufacturers like Toyota or Honda or BMW. The quality of the dashcam is unknown but you still have your car warranty.

blurjoey The U1000 firmware, which country to select the file for downloading from? Any dependencies?
*
Download Singapore firmware.

Using the wrong country firmware will cause the Thinkware to hang and restart when it gets a GPS connection every time.

No worries. Can just flash the firmware back.

It only hangs when it gets a GPS connection.

Almost done but the mini0906 Pro's wifi doesn't seems stable for me to finish testing out the access via the app...

Attached Image

Calling all mini0906 users can help verify something as it's been a long tme since I've reviewed the mini0906. Can you help check if the date and time are reset every time you start the car and only sync when GPS is connected? This happening to the mini0906 Pro (see the above picture). hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

QUOTE(andyng38 @ Dec 19 2019, 11:56 AM)
Lucky for u today my vehicle is parked in a place where there's no GPS signal at all. I checked just now and date+time are correct. It has never reset since the first time I drove out under the sky after installing the 0906, and got locked onto satellites.

A seller told me that there's a tiny battery in the cam that keeps the date and time when the vehicle isn't running. Guess it's kinda like how the CMOS battery keeps BIOS settings in a pc. Maybe your unit has a faulty RTC battery?

Looking at the track record of the mfg's firmware for various dashcams, I'd not be surprised if the current version is screwy. It usually takes several revisions before they iron out the bugs to reach stable operation. Aug 28 '19's firmware for the 0906 is still running well with no problems. Maybe it's a firmware bug in the Pro that prevents time and date from being saved and kept track of?

This is why I refrain from buying from the first batch of any electronic devices...let them work out the problems first.
*
I was suspecting the RTC battery but all the settings is still there when I check. So a bit weird.

They told me to charge the RTC battery for 30 minutes but I've been driving with the mini0906 for a few days now.

Anyway this is not the first batch mini0906 Pro but a final version before production.

Anyway video quality is good. Just these minor bugs I suppose.

Find a tv repairman friend and have him take it apart to see if there's a RTC battery installed biggrin.gif and if there's one, a simple check with a multimeter should tell u the story.

But don't discount buggy firmware too!

If it's the "final version", doesn't that mean that version will be in the first production run? I'll wait ...can afford to wait long long smile.gif
*
Hahaha... Anyway i've check the settings and its all there. The RTC should be working I guess.
