Conclusion (04/04) 1250pm : I finally received call from CS manager and he agreed to reverse the transaction and also agreed that after I end my rental period the car is no longer under my custody. They will proceed with refund to my payment card within 5-10 working days. The battery was found missing on 31/03, 9pm. Since all this has come to an end, I would like to thank everyone. As for Socar, please be more cautious and investigate properly before charge. I have accepted their apology and waiting written email from CS manager.

Update 04/04 0937am : No person contact me from SoCar although stated will contact, maybe end of the world only call me. KPDNKK filed and Bank Dispute is completed.

I rent a Socar on 31/03 from 1300 to 1600. Charges all charged before the rental period and end of the rental period, at 1600, they charged for extra mileage. Ok la, i use exceed 60km then I pay extra, absolutely fine.

After 2 days, on 02/04 2.15AM, when I was sleeping, my card got charged with two transaction, RM100 and RM120 respectively. Then, Socar send me message saying I was charged for a battery change. When I woke up next morning, I am full of question mark, so I also proceed to ask Socar what are the charges.

Me : Why am i being charge for an extra of RM220 and for battery change?
Socar : because we found out battery was missing during ur rental period, so the charges applies to u. We have the proof of the battery was lost.
Me : show me proof with date and time.
Socar : we can't show u now. U can go make police report, we have the solid proof.
Me : Ask ur manager call me today (03/04).

Issue : when we rent car, once the car return, anything happens is not in our custody. When we return, we need to submit front,back,left and right picture of the car before the submission can be complete.

Socar is like telling me after i return the car till before next booking, the period is under my liability. WTF?

Sekalian, please change payment type to debit card with minimum amount inside, socar don't allow to remove card if only have one card. By all means, please avoid using credit card in socar and I fully boycott socar.

It's my words against your words. Ask them for evidence, and if they can't proof and pusing, include that in the police report that Socar is trying to scam you.

Give them a time frame, tell them if xxx date is not met, you'll make a report against the manager that he's taking you for a ride. Both police report and the ministry that goven Socar.

Does the parking area have CCTV to monitor the cars? Challenge them to show you the recording showing you remove the battery after reaching there.

Wait, what if the spare tyre or toolkits are missing? Charge the renter too? What if any lightbulb is blown?

The So car parking got cctv right. Show them if i no battery. How in world i park back in ur designated parking. Battery missing, how in world the car move. Really dumbo in So Car Mgt. They should do like front bonnet is lock with key so no one can access unless its them.

Usually when you return the car, did you return the car to the socar compound or can you leave the car anywhere?

How can somebody steal the battery inside socar compound?

Obviously the battery was stolen while waiting for the next rental.

And they push the responsibility to the previous rental.

U cannot return the car without locking it. The app will tell you that the door is unlocked/lights are not turned off. Lock it first before the app allows u to return the car

This is a an absolute bull shit charge. If a battery was stolen from out of the car, the car was broken into. Socar should’ve made a police report, not bill you.

If that’s how they work, then you can effectively cannibalize the car, and socar will just bill you for the parts. Makes no sense at all.

unfortunately there's no cctv in the parking premise, socar rent one lot in the parking premise, before we end the rental, we need to submit photo of the vehicle showing the parking spot as well.

yes, they told me AFTER my rental period. I was like after my rental period is not my custody to take care of the car. The parking has no cctv, it is a semi abandon building and the car has 24 hour car reader and GPS. if battery is missing, they would able to read and charge my extra mileage.

welcome. to everyone this is a ridiculous charges. I am just bringing awareness to the public. doesn't wish anyone caught in this situation as bank dispute need long time, 21 working days.

the parking area doesn't have cctv. if i took the battery away, the 24 hour car monitoring wouldn't able to read my extra mileage clocked and charge the extra cost. and assume doesn't work, police need solid evidence.

File a case at tribunal court at KPDNKK, is near PWTC if not mistaken.

Then during tribunal time both party will present their findings and judge will decide on the spot. On the spot u can see the prove as well.

Using 3g/4g connection by sim card, that's why underground very hard to get signal.
