I suppose the AsRock B450 pro4 is around ~350 RM, and better to go with 2x8 for the dual channel, kingston hyperX/Corsair Vengeance 2666 2x8 would be around ~500 RM. A single 16GB stick would be around same price. Ryzen 5 2600 is ~650 RM I believe. So that's 1500 MYR.

To go below 1500, there's only the mATX version of the AsRock B450. Would be ~100 RM less. I wouldn't recommend that but it's still B450.

One thing you should know about Ryzen is.. this CPU loves fast RAMs. So like add 40 or 50 RM more to get 2x8 3000/3200 Mhz RAM. If you can wait until July, well, Zen 2 CPUs.

I agree with this, Ryzen can benefit a lot from high speed RAM and dual-channel is a must.

Don't go too cheap on your motherboard if you plan to game, and possible OC in the future. A cheap mobo might have very bad VRM and power phase. I personally went with similar build, see below:

Asrock B450 Pro4 (ATX) - RM339
Ryzen 2600 - RM645
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x 8GB 3000MHz C16 (i bought each separately at RM265 instead of kit, cheaper and still managed to clock at 3000Mhz without issue) - RM530

Total RM1514 which is still within your budget.
Price was 1 month ago, CPU+Mobo from ebucket Shopee, RAM from lingloong/dotatech

Ryzen 2600X won't have much benefit other than extra cores for multitasking, if just gaming, 2600 will do well.

Yeah. The reason I choose that shop because of the rams. 😁

Other shops quoted 520 too though not Corsairs.

I bought from a shopee seller called Ebucket. He has a shop in Penang and ships out quite fast. All good reviews and I received in good condition. They have the best price so far

Edit: now the price is 649. But u can find shopee vouchers sometimes

Anyone can recommend me good/cheap casing which can fit in RX580. My current one is too big for my taste and the mic/ear ports on the front are broken already.

Preferably below RM 200.

I'm seeing some game benchmarks where that CPU beats Ryzen 2600/2600X easily. Being in the same price range, I guess for purely gaming purposes I should choose Intel instead of AMD right?

Any recommendation for mobo and ram keeping the price around RM1500 or less including the CPU as I probably gonna get some SSD too.

If the signature of urs is now the specification u using, I don't think you would even bother to consider 9400F over 2600 for upgrade path.

2600 - Plenty of threads, better stock fan, overclockable, and a Motherboard upgrade path that goes all the way to Zen 2 should you plan to replace it with a more powerful chipset. (upcoming 3000)

If u want good pure gaming system, save some cash, get a bit more powerfull cpu instead of 9400f.

Yes, 9400F give u more frame rate but rather than that, u should upgrade ur gpu first to 2060, 2070 or 1080 for future prove. Those 3 will give u more big impact rather than 2600 to 9400f.

2060 also can play on 1440.

For info:
120+ Hz monitor: i5-9400F
Monitor below 120 Hz: R5 2600

Not really.

The case where Intel gives more framerate or not depends on the game and more importantly the graphics card.

High end graphics cards on certain titles, yes it does but not when you're on GTX 1060 as in his signature.

Not true either.

Refresh rate has nothing to do with your processor.

As long as your graphics card vs game and getting the fps needed it's good to go.

No. I was looking to upgrade from i5 3570 and decided to go AMD instead of stocking with Intel for over 20 years. 😁

All I need now is freesync monitor. Not going to use nvidia gou for the time being though. The last I use nvidia was geforce 6xxx.

I am using 2600 with vega 56, works in every game without an issue like CSGO, apex, pubg. FPS consistently above 100, and I have a freesync monitor too.

Your 2600 should last you awhile, upgrading to 9400f you wont even see much improvement, which isnt really worth it for the hassle. I managed to overclock my 2600 to 4.1 and I see a boost in a lot of things.

You dont need vega 56 for games you're playing. Swap with my rx 580 as it's barely enough for Total War. 😁
