I'm seeing some game benchmarks where that CPU beats Ryzen 2600/2600X easily. Being in the same price range, I guess for purely gaming purposes I should choose Intel instead of AMD right?
Any recommendation for mobo and ram keeping the price around RM1500 or less including the CPU as I probably gonna get some SSD too.

You may choose better option, i5-9600k instead of i5-9400F. I am same like you too was recently upgraded from my 3rd gen intel core i7-3770k to i5-9600k. Have no choice because for budget purpose. i5-9600k should be more than enough for gaming purpose.

Is the signature spec you using? U not consider upgrade your gpu instead of cpu?
For me even lousy ryzen 1600 can last years liao because im only using 60hz Plus ryzen got 6c12t which is more futureproof
If aiming for 144/240 better to get the intel high end k processors Btw can link the benchmark that show 9400f > 2600x? I thot they were around same performance
I mainly play Total War which plays better on Intel. To be honest, I dont need to upgrade for other games. Playing Witcher 3 etc fine with my current CPU.

Seems like its quite close
Have to consider that 2600x has some advantage: 12 thread instead of 6 for better productivity Better upgrade path (am4 socket) Overclockable
Both are a decent choice, if me i would wait and see ryzen 3000 how since its only few months away

2600X is 300 ringgit more, which will go into the ram budget. 🤔
I mean, if you don't plan to OC, 9400F is a very decent CPU, as Intel is better in single threaded performance, thus good for gaming. But..at least to me, without a non K version of intel chip, Ryzen 5 2600 or 2600x is a better choice. Or even the 1600/1600x. Get one of those chips with a b450 mobo. Because a K version intel chip and the K version separate motherboard are surely gonna cost you some extra moolah. You'd have the path for overclocking, and compatibility for the Zen 2 chips as well with b450. And of course, AMD have came a long way to shrink the single thread gap between them and Intel from FX to Ryzen. It will only get better. Not only the difference is little between the 8th gen i5 and Ryzen 5/7 in single threaded tasks, for multi-threaded stuff, AMD pulls ahead in the mid range.
Kinda tl;dr. Since you would be using the RX 580, definitely the target is 1080p 60fps or 75hz/fps. Won't matter much whether you are using Intel or Ryzen.

If I'm going Ryzen 2600, what's the recommended ram and mobo to keep all below RM1500?

Ram as 8GB X 2? It is much easier 4GB 2666 X 2 within you budget which only cost around rm250. You can get decent B450 mobo with ALC1220 sound chip within your budget, if your speaker is lousy one, just take any B450 mobo. I personally pretty like Asus B450F Strix.

Dont care much about sounds since I'm using headphones as my pc is in my bedroom.
How about a single 16GB ram?
Will it be much different 2666 ram with 3000?
I've read most says that Ryzen preferably paired with 3000 ram at least. Dont mind 8GB for now anyway.
p/s: my actual budget is actually 2k but I'm hoping to get a new monitor and/or another SSD within the budget too. Planning to get some cheap 24" freesynch monitor.

Headphone is recommend good soundchip, unless cheap headphone. B450-F have pre-amp for headphone if not wrong, Ryzen sensitive with ram speed but DDR4 can OC easily which you could find it on youtube to see how it works.

I suppose the AsRock B450 pro4 is around ~350 RM, and better to go with 2x8 for the dual channel, kingston hyperX/Corsair Vengeance 2666 2x8 would be around ~500 RM. A single 16GB stick would be around same price. Ryzen 5 2600 is ~650 RM I believe. So that's 1500 MYR.
To go below 1500, there's only the mATX version of the AsRock B450. Would be ~100 RM less. I wouldn't recommend that but it's still B450.
One thing you should know about Ryzen is.. this CPU loves fast RAMs. So like add 40 or 50 RM more to get 2x8 3000/3200 Mhz RAM. If you can wait until July, well, Zen 2 CPUs.
