Without changing mobo, you can go to i7 6700 or probably with bios update i7 7700.

I'm not sure it's worth it going to 8th or 9th gen since you need different mobo. Not much to gain except extra 2 cores.

Probably below RM1K if possible. Changing to i7 6700 is it worth the price? Saw B450M+AMD RYZEN 5 or B360+i59400F..looks good but dont know will the difference significant or not for my setup with GTX1050ti

Get used i7 6700 or 7700. You'll gain more than changing to ryzen or 9th gen i5.

Try and see if can flash bios and get the i5 8400 or 9400F then... But I am feeling your board is probably not suited for proper power delivery.

If simple gaming and paired with 1050Ti, the i5-7500 is adequate too. Can find a used one under rm550, I suppose.
