So what is the advantage of this Simple™ compared to conditional high yield saving account like OCBC 360?  hmm.gif
If I got RM 100k to play with?
*
Probably cuz theres no minimum amount required for SA Simple. 2.4% interest regardless you put RM1 or RM100k.

OCBC requires you to deposit minimum RM500/month, pay bills & spend using the card to enjoy the max 2.75% interest per annum.

My normal portfolio deposited last week Wednesday is still processing until now. Probably convert to USD on Monday and buy on Tuesday.

First time D+4 for me. I believe SA Simple will take longer if SAMY processing slowed down some more

Your money is with money market fund, not SA. It works just like fundsupermart.

Does stashaway sells our etf if needed? I checked my May 20 statement and saw that i used to have XLK etf which comprise of top technology company shares but it was sold without me making any withdrawal. Is it due to the auto reoptimization?

Did you accept the re-optimization exercise?

If no, if the particular ETF has exceeded the weightage of the target allocation of your said risk appetite, it'll sell to reduce back to the target allocation.

No, that's rebalancing in action. It means the ETF has overperformed and sold to buy underperforming ETF.

I just coincidentally clicked onto this thread and I'm interested with the returns and positive reviews everyone is saying about SA.. but I'm new to this and I don't know where I can get more information. The website isn't very user friendly or informative.

Anyone mind doing a TLDR or SA for newbies explanation for noobs like me? Besides the 0.8% fee I'm paying annually I pretty much don't know anything else. How are the returns calculated? What are the risks of dumping in RM10,000 every month and what kind of net am I expecting to see by the end of a 12-month term?

thanks all gurus who are willing to take time to explain.. xixi

Take a look at this brief explanation of stashaway. The person has almost 70k in assets with StashAway.

Ideally, you pay that 0.8% p.a. so you don't need to know anything else... provided stashaway never defrauds us in the future.

The best way to use robo advisor apps (Bank Islam one is not) is to answer the setup questions truthfully, then they will tell you what risk to pick and how much RM to deposit every month.

"What are the risks of dumping in RM10,000 every month" - volatitly risk is as stated in the app, but the risk of them cabut with your money we arent sure of that yet, I have been using them for 3 years now and they seem OK.

"what kind of net am I expecting to see by the end of a 12-month term?" - cant tell

I'd like to think no investments are risk free.. with the exception of FD. They mentioned volatility, but with no clear elaboration.

According to the introductory post, I understand the higher the risk profile, the higher the projected returns. And you were right, these 'expected returns' are definitely higher than FD rates (even ASB for that matter).

However, in the unfortunate event that the markets go downhill, what kinds of losses am I looking at if I set my risk profile to be, say, 20%? The website says if your profile is set at 20% there's a 1% chance you have 20% losses, which sounds pretty alarming.. Let me know if I misunderstood incorrectly..

if comparing to on board rate, SA simple is higher
FD hunter usually look for promotion rate which is much higher than on board.

Isn't SA Simple 2.4% flat rate? According to the current FD rates list, most are still higher than this.. only exception is SASimple allows withdrawal anytime with prorates. That's what I understood from the website at least..

While we're on this, anyone knows averaging how long it takes to withdraw my investments in SA? Any difference in time taken between simple and profile?

Yes you are right, there is a 1% chance your portfolio will drop by -20% in a given year. To be honest, that is the risk of the stock market in general, and a 20% drop is not unheard of. Take a look at the sp500 chart, from the peak of this year around Feb 19 to March 23rd, the sp500 dropped by 33%, but if you did not sell your stocks then, stocks has since recovered from its low, and is now 35% higher.
