Hi, i was watching the video above. Based on my understanding, the closest that we have to an index fund in malaysia is etf and stashaway is one of the platform that we can use to invest easily in etf correct? Any other better alternative platform for etf other than stashaway? Im just looking to diversify my investment other than epf and asb.

Nope, still invest in asb mainly. But i feel better have secondary investment due to uncertainty in malaysia economy and politics. If everything when well the return will roughly be the same. If malaysia economy took a downturn, at least i have something to fall back to due to diversification.

Lately I have been trying to find Malaysia based financial YouTube channel
Came across this
https://youtu.be/70Q0eWQ7wvM

Basically 3 type of saving
Emergency, investment and entertainment

Before invest in any platform, be it stashaway or fsm, put a chuck of money for emergency usage.

Btw, any Malaysia based financial youtuber?

Does stashaway sells our etf if needed? I checked my May 20 statement and saw that i used to have XLK etf which comprise of top technology company shares but it was sold without me making any withdrawal. Is it due to the auto reoptimization?

Just curious, what metric would be the most similar to measure our stashaway portfolio performance similiar to how asb/ epf announce their dividend %? Would that be twr? Its difficult to see current year performance as twr start since when the first deposit was entered.

Any ideas? Just want see a simple metric of comparison between epf/asb vs stashaway

erm for new user should i go for simple or the normal type?
*
It depends, on your objective. From i've seen, investor use simple as a more liquid fixed deposit type of investment. If you have emergency fund portion that does not get used all the time then simple would be a pretty good choice to park that money.

The normal stashaway investment are more suitable for long term investing with the expectation of higher return than simple.

Just curious, does stashaway earning are being considered compounded monthly or annually formula wise?

Other than that, let's say stashaway/ any other robo advisor when bankrupt. What:s the procedure for us to claim our money from the trustee? Is it complex and involve any sort of expensive expense?

A question, with frequency and volume of money printing in US. How does the devaluation of USD affect the value of the respective etf?

For example, if the perceived value of etf xxx remain the same. Would that mean our total portfolio number wise would increase as 1 etf xxx require higher number of fiat currency due to devaluation of dollars?

Thanks for sharing. First time i know of this platform. The forex rate seems pretty bad or is this the norm for this sort of platform? The buy is at 4.13 and sell at 4.22.

Any other similiar platform that you know of?

I would like to obtain opinion on emergency fund. Currently i have it in combination of ASB and cash management fund.

I feel the cash management fund portion are better allocate to a fund with roughly the same asset combination as kwsp/asb. So in stashaway term it would be sri 22%(i know it’s not directly correlated because different between global vs local market).

The reason why i have this thought is because cash management fund is still “cash” which severely being impacted negatively by inflation. While a conservative 22% sri would have converted the “cash” into different asset type while having an “emergency” value that we can tap into if needed.

One would ask why not just put more in asb?
The reason is because asb have low withdrawal limit to withdraw online. Bank have to book online to go to its branch. Depending on where you live, sometimes you need to make appointment 2 weeks in advance. Therefore its not liquid enough for emergency fund under our current situation.

What do you guys think?

For flexible portfolio world market etf, it’s better to take ISAC over VT due to lower wht charges correct?

Every 10000
VT expense 7
Assume 2% dividend wht is 60
Total 67

Isac expense 20
Wht 30 assume 2% yield
Stashaway fees 30 at 0.3%
Total 80

Difference 13. Just a coffee  but most people will tell you buy VWRA cheaper. Total 50 only. Difference 30. I hope I get my math right.

I think you missed out to include stashaway fee on the VT. Assuming same stashaway fee with ISAC, VT total would 97 in total
