i deposited via JomPay on 16th. last Friday i contacted their WhatsApp support asking for status and to unlock high risk portfolio.

My 22% risk general portfolio has a money-weighted return of -2.6%. It just keeps getting lower and lower. I invested quite a hefty amount ... should I be worried? Will my fortunes change in the long run?

while waiting for responses, i googled and found this and hope that it can provide you with some info while you wait

what is the StashAway Risk Index?
Risk, or how much of your money is at stake, is an inherent factor of any investment. To help you visualise how much risk you’d be taking with an investment with us, we qualify all of our portfolios by the SRI.

The SRI is derived from a common risk metric, Value-at-Risk (VaR). VaR measures the likelihood of a potential loss on your portfolio. Basically, it preemptively answers the question, “How much could I possibly lose on my investment in any given year?”

Specifically, the SRI uses 99%-VaR, which means that your portfolio has a 99% chance of not losing more than the given SRI percentage in any given year. For instance, if you choose to invest RM50,000 at a 14% SRI, there’s a 99% chance that you won’t lose more than RM7,000 in a given year (RM50,000 * 14% = RM7,000). You can also say that there’s only a 1% chance that you’ll lose more than RM7,000.

So, the higher the SRI level you select, the larger your portfolio’s potential downside risk. The range of SRI levels offer options for different risk appetites and various investment needs. At StashAway, General Investing Core portfolios range from SRI 6.5% to 22%, and our General Investing Higher-risk portfolios go up to SRI 36%.

Why worry take it easy it’s only 2% consider nothing unless you’re having 11% loss

Markets are correcting because all time high which are normal behaviour

At 22% your loss is consider small compared to those who invested on 36% this month gains already wiped out

KWEB another 5% loss today which is so normal now

I'd say have a good sleep tonight and beyond because it's a long term investment. That, unless you think your portfolio no longer aligns with your risk appetite then you can consider adjusting, however do note that it means SA will then sell some of your current positions (at the current low) and then buy something else according to your adjustment. Adjusting risk index also does not guarantee more profit and/or less losses.

If this makes you feel better, my journey in SA has been in the red since inception at Aug 2020, at RI 10%. I have recently adjusted my portfolio to RI 16% and RI 36% both at 50:50 original amount and the transactions just completed. Guess what, I'm making even more losses doh.gif because the transactions happened right before the "market correction" everyone has been talking about this week. It is indeed a little frustrating, but what we're doing here is entrusting someone else (SA) to invest for us, meanwhile I/we(?) can't really time the market, so these reds aren't what we can control. Personally, I've already scheduled my monthly DCA, so I'll just try to sit back and let that happen.

Sorry if I made you guys panic.fyi I am directly invested in the markets and that makes me even more nervous. But at the same time correction must occur. Just a small tiny bump in the scheme of things. Akin to sept 2020 (I think that was something to do with vaccine not working or something). On the bright side recovery stocks are starting to pick up so generally indexes are going to be ok soon.

Set a weekly/monthly amount that you are comfortable putting (without worrying if the price dips a bit and there is a unrealised loss) and hold for at least 1-3 years and you're set.

SAMY is supposed to be deposit and forget it.

We here just itchy follow the stock price daily cuz nothing else to do LOL

Anytime is a good time to invest only thing you need to look at the money term horizon and your risk appetite to determine what kind of investor you’re

There’s is no right or wrong only strategy that your thinking at which determine what kind investment you’re suitable at

Try baby step before going to major leagues

In fact it is falling to pre Xmas levels when the market was heating up

KWEB been heating up too much already showing 3 cycles of growth which I know a lot are even nervous buying options of KWEB hitting 115 by April which thankfully i didn’t buy in because of the technicals

If your money are still profitable in others why bother about KWEB because there is always room for you to make money anytime in any markets
