Is there any update to fix GPU power limit throttling on 9th gen selenite when the battery is absent?
I remember notifying this more than 3 months ago because my battery got swollen in 10 months and I had to remove it.

so after visit to the support yesterday

1. They said its a motherboard problem and it will take 1-2 months depending on eta
2. Swollen batteries - Costs RM 395 ( not covered by warranty? )

Is it possible to ship the motherboard so that i can continue working ( i rather buy a monitor and not lose 2 months of working time.)

Hi Uzumaki, let me check if we can have the spare motherboard to put into your laptop for temporary usage. Battery warranty is 1 year, how long did you use your laptop?

Good to know. I look around the web and found out that the board with 8570H chipset will eventually have this issue. The user here receives a board replacement from 9th gen (9570H) Flickering Screen 8gen board

A current workaround while waiting for my monitor to arrive is theres somebody suggested that to set the brightness to 20% Flickering walkaround and apparently it works.
Attached Image

So my question here, what is the cost of swapping the board from 8570H to 9570H?

Edit : Regarding the battery is this something of a issue that overtime it will be swollen like that? I only used it for a year plus ( purchased Mar 2019) and working in normal office climate.

Yes Eric from Tongfang QA team has officially confirmed their vendor's IC problem on 8750H + RTX motherboards, luckily we only import small volume of this batch due to too closed to the release of 9th gen + RTX. Our team will assist you to DOA your laptop with TF.

As for the battery, if it's covered under 2 year warranty but your battery warranty has ended, we can provide some discount for you on another new battery.

Guess im not the lucky one.So are they going to fix the board or replace it with the 9th Gen board? I am really concerned if few months down the road i the screen flickering will happen again. So stable is the 9th Gen and what is the costs replacing it?

I have noticed the selenite will charge the battery after power up the PC even though it is fully charge before shut down.
With this rate, the battery will be swollen up like most of the selenite user's case.

Anyone has any solution so far or have to send yo Illegear for check up?

what do you mean? If plugged in, of course it's going to keep charging (by that I mean kept at 100%). Selenite doesn't have battery charge capping.

Apparently this is a thing with this laptop. After every shut down it will always boot up with 99% battery and the system will charge it. So far having this laptop for more than half a year, no sign of battery wear on HWinfo and i'm still getting decent hours of work when not plugged in

Doubt that this is good for the battery so i really hope we can get like maybe a bios/EC update to prevent this

Mine got swollen in 10 months. I am hoping that is just bad luck. Could you try gaming without battery to see if there is GPU PL throttling?

Without battery? Sure can do but give me a few days. Quite busy with Uni atm. Also do you have any specific conditions you want me to run the test under? I was planning on using the AC Odyssey benchmark on turbo mode

This battery phenomenon has been brought up by forumer last year on this thread, we have forwarded to TF FAE team and it's completely normal according to them.

There will be no BIOS / EC update because it was designed this way on SELENITE.

Your GPU will get lower performance without the battery plugged in.

Thanks. smile.gif I asked Illegear Team to check the same but I haven't received any updates.

Nothing specific. Just keep afterburner open and check for memory clock too. It doesn't goes above 810 Mhz for me.

No BIOS update at all? This must be some kind of joke. mad.gif mad.gif

Again, battery MUST NOT be the primary power source. It isn't rocket science. Why does GPU PL throttling goes away when driver is re-installed but comes back after os restarts or wakes from hibernation?
