QUOTE(Man On Fire @ Aug 7 2020, 12:13 PM)
hi...i have selenite pro i7-9750 with rtx2060.

i want to upgrade my SSD to 1TB as my current 500gb is not enough (blame COD). so, i plan to buy upgrade ssd from illigear 1TB as my main and my current 500gb as my 2nd hd.
just wanna ask few things.

1) if i upgrade SSD from Illigear, how long will it takes for illigear to install new SSD along with clean windows install if i bring my laptop to center?? will it take days or can it be done onsite settle that day it self??

2) If illigear unable to do it on the same day (maybe gonna take weeks), can i buy my own SSD and install it myself? will this void the warranty? - i really need the laptop as it is my daily work machine.

3) i prefer illigear to do clean install everything (bios/windows/drivers), just like getting new laptop...however, if i choose to upgrade the ssd myself (refer quest 2)...will illigear support help me with bios/windows installation?? ---bcoz, i really noobshit about laptop.

thanks...

Hi Man On Fire

Yes you may send in and we will assist on that. You can also perform the upgrade on your own that doesn't void the warranty.

Our processing time is about 2 to 3 working days now for installing SSD + reformat smile.gif

I suggest you buy your own. But if you really want to buy from them, make sure you choose the branded ones (e.g. from Samsung) not the generic no-brand ones because they're problematic.

I don't think replacing the storage or RAM will void the warranty. Also it's super easy to replace as well.

FYI in case you don't know, you don't need to clean install your OS and everything if you want to upgrade.  You can just clone from your existing drive to the new one.

thanks...will learn how to all that from youtube see if i can do it myself. hardware installation part is easy as i am used to assemble desktop. its just..the software part im not familiar off...

You can use Macrium Reflect to clone your existing drive. It can also expand your storage if your new SSD is bigger.

Since you will be experimenting, how bout clone, then put in new SSD, then perform windows reset. Then install the drivers and software. If anything goes wrong you can always insert back your old SSD in.

Anyway you can always clone your current drive in image format and store in a different drive so that u can perform a restore when you wish to. An external drive reader would be handy tho like a m.2 external.

My selenite that I used less than 2 years I had sent it for warranty 3 times. 2 times it's the display panel keeps falling out & land on the keyboard. And now the latest one is motherboard problem which I have to wait for 1 to 2 months now.

I used to recommend other people illegear brand previously but I just can't do it anymore. 3 warranties in less than 2 years is just not reasonable. Are there other people that face this amount of warranty or it's just me with a lemon product? sad.gif

I just bought selenite g from JB branch and i already went there like 4 times regarding the warranty issue and i just got my laptop not more than 7 days haha (yet to resolve), within 2years 3 times warranty still fine la ?

Hi kevin2128,

Regarding your Seagate Firecuda 1TB SSHD 100% usage issue after intensive gaming, our JB support team has changed another SSHD inside your laptop and the issue seems to be resolved for now. We will need another day or two for testing before we can pass back to you. Should you have any further question, you may contact our JB tech support team at (+60) 10-9786136.

Hi kevin2128,

100% usage issue still persisted the 2nd day after we swapped a new Seagate 1TB SSHD.

We found the issue is caused by the Intel Rapid Storage driver, after we uninstalled the software, the issue is resolved for now. The JB tech support team has been playing intensive games and monitoring your disk usage since few days ago.

Hi Prince,

Just to be clear the time i bring the laptop to jb branch already do one time format without installed intel rapid storage, i am really concern maybe it wasnt just a software issue as i have keep mention the voltage issue to support team.

Btw, if you ensure just because the rapid storage issue, pls do more test Tq.

Yikes, 4 times in less than 7 days? I cannot imagine your frustration. But god bless Illegear support is much better than other brands (can nego somehow).

Other brand such as Acer, Asus, etc. do not care too much on their customers after you have purchased their unit (unless the store provides 7 days 1 to 1 exchange). All you can do is just send in for warranty & wait. :/

I do it every couple of months. Repaste maybe once every 6 or so depending on how uneven the paste has spread on my cpu

Best videos i've seen are from Bob of All trades on youtube. He may be repasting a different laptop but the process is still the same. Get a thick high quality paste like TG Hydronaut and maybe some Arcticlean if you wanna do this more in the future and take your time with it

Can you try these steps:

1. Install Realtek audio driver first.
2. Install SoundBlaster APPXBUNDLE file by double clink it. Do not run after installation.
3. Install CreativeAudioEffectsComponentInstaller.
4. Install SPKEQ_TF_PCAPP
5. Perform Windows update throughly.
6. Open Microsoft Store, select Downloads and Updates, click on SoundBlaster app. It would initiates update by itself momentarily.

Im trying to reinstall the soundblaster app on the laptop but I still cant manage to make it work properly. Is there other updates that i should know?
