My advise....if you have concern about the cost of maintenance, that means you are not there yet to ride a big bike. Don't let this drag you down in future. Just stick to 250 the most.

Your hard earned money can be spent else where more useful.

Yeah im just going to buy the CB 250r. Big bike isnt for me. Im small n lightweight. Most big bikes are too heavy and tall for me. So sad but its fate.

I'm not that tall....and I'm not heavy.
I still have to tip toe when I'm on two feet while on the bike.

You can get one when you are ready.

Cb250r is a fun bike too.

Comparing my old Ninja 250r and current er6n, the regular oil change servicing cost is about the same.

250r road tax was rm50 and er6n is rm250 ohmy.gif

Insurance and tyres both cost a lot more too.

Yup agree.. i experience from single to 4 inline..
Most different is on ins or tyre..once u touch 250 and above ..get ready for it

The only way to save is find and change ur own spare part..but u hv to get really technical when u ar into it

If twin cylinder not much difference. Main difference only roadtax & insurance. If compare 250cc twin cylinder & 600cc 4 cylinder then it's different story.

Btw forget CBR250R. Get a twin cylinder bike like Ninja 300.

hello guys, just wanna ask u guys regarding the maintenance of both cc. some ppl said that 250cc maintenance cost almost same or same as the 600cc bike. idk whether its true or not. im noobies here. been eyeing on the cb250r for a long time. i dont want to regret later after bought it

Periodic maintenance - Engine oil and oil filter - almost the same. For example 2.7 litre every 10,000km for my Rebel 500.

Chain, tyres, not much different too.

Long term maintenance differs. 2 cylinder, 4 cylinders, valve clearance, spark plugs, etc.

And forget about single cylinder (cb250r). whistling.gif

If you are not particular about the ride, etc etc...as long as the bike can commute you , it should be fine.

Interesting, didn't know the CB500F used that much engine oil. 2.7 liters is the same as the new CB650R and CBR650R I believe.

Maintenance wise is fairly cheap but you will need to sacrifice on comfort comparing to inline4 which has less vibration. Some bike the vibration is so intense that it can actually crack your fuel tank.

Similar cost with my Rebel 500 (same engine as CB500F)

Just to add oil filter - RM30-50 (price varies depending where you buy it)

As for engine oil, 3 1L bottle - RM35 x 3 Repsol Fully synthetic 10W-30 every 5000km too. I got myself cheap fully synthetic Repsol direct from Repsol HQ in Shah Alam. Confirm 100% original thumbup.gif

2 very different bike, if not mistaken 4cylinder vs 2 cylinder, sport vs casual. if just spec i think CB650R is better. if u r in sportbike type of person.

Riding position also different,

Sporty naked bike vs a Cruiser

depends on what do you want to do with the bike?
