hello guys, just wanna ask u guys regarding the maintenance of both cc. some ppl said that 250cc maintenance cost almost same or same as the 600cc bike. idk whether its true or not. im noobies here. been eyeing on the cb250r for a long time. i dont want to regret later after bought it

cant really compare CC to check on maintenance cost...

in terms of normal service, main difference is the amount of engine oil. typically, more pistons, more engine oil.

the CB250R is a single piston which means itll use lesser oil than a 2 piston 250cc bike like the R25 or Ninja 250.

just like the ER6n which is a 2 piston will use less oil than a 4 piston XJ6

cost will also depend on the price of oil u use (sold in 1L bottles). spark plug also depends on number of pistons.

other than that, theres the oil filter cost... diff bikes has diff pricing for their oil filters. major maintenance is valve clearance every 40k km.

then theres the wear and tear stuff....

tires - if u dont need super duper knee and elbow dragging corner performance, u can get a set of 110 and 150 tires (front and rear set) for below RM450 such as the Corsa S123 and Metzeler Sportec Street. both are decent tires and i prefer the Corsa for wet roads. both lasts a decent amount of distance too. 600cc typically uses 120/160 combo...some even 180 i think.

chain and sprocket - can get a set below RM400 for a 250cc.... 600cc i think gonna be around 5xx. typically lasts about 20k km depending on how u maintain it.

and of course insurance and road tax will have quite a big gap.

wah... ur on constant eco mode ka?

my old z250 full tank gets about 250km on normal day to day ride...in and out of eco mode with occasional spirited riding (aka late for work)

current z900 gets about 220-240km per tank on same riding style

why single cylinder  bad? I thought maintenance will be a bit cheaper right?
*
cheaper maintenance yes.... but riding experience a lil diff... single cylinder will have more vibrations.

What grade EO you use? I am using 10W-50.
How's the Roadtec01 compared to the other 2? I'm happy with mine.

I'm using 15w-50 coz mainly is long distance.. The Roadtec 01 feels noticeable better than the Angel ST in wet condition.. As these few days keep raining, tested it a lot... Actually I changed my rear on Monday, yesterday only go change my front eventho still got 90+%...  tongue.gif
*
me using roadtec01 as well. first rear lasted 18k km...now using 2nd rear....front has around 22k km on it and still running.

just an FYI, metzeller has released the Roadtec 01 SE

not in MY yet... but hopefully it comes in the next 10k km of my bike laugh.gif

There are those that reported higher with the roadtecs...might be im riding more aggressive or something

Met a guy who got 26k km on the rear with his cb650f..n he carries pillion n full top n side boxes alot

Depends on ur riding conditions i guess

N the roadtec01 is supposed to be the replacement for z8

The rider is experienced rider, superbikes, sports tourer, street sports. The Z9 belongs to his friend, stock setup, rode it up Cameron on a good day and that was his feedback. He wants to replace S22 with T31 as next tyre on his bike and re-assess. Not to brag, but as reference, his S22 no chicken strips, for real. So, maybe T31 isn't suitable for him.

then that kinda rider for sure the T31 not suitable for him.... completely different usage which is why they have different models of tires in the first place laugh.gif
