My main reason for going on package tours is that someone takes care of my luggage. Even if I need to load or unload it myself.

When you go on a DIY trip to Japan or other countries where you need to take a train or other public transport from one town to another, what do you do with your luggage while sightseeing? I did not see any luggage when I went on the Osaka-Kyoto fast train.
*
1. Coin locker
2. Baggage forwarding service
3. Proper planning so that you can split your luggage. Big luggage ask hotel to keep while u take small luggage for side trips

Maybe for a longer holiday, I'll go DIY.

I don't think I want to do much planning for 4-5 nights this time round.

Thank you for the tips.

These forums are very PRO-DIY but frankly speaking, if you prefer doing package tours then there's nothing wrong with that πŸ‘πŸ»

Hi bro.... how long did it take to go there from Takayama and how long did you spend there? Would this trip require a half day's time?

Nohibus got 2-day bus + admisson ticket + 1000yen coupon package. Very worth it

I think you can start early and come back Takayama around 2-3pm. Bus is not that frequent, i think 1 bus every hour only.

Going up and down the ropeway, i think at most u spend 1-1.5hr. When i went during spring, it was -5 degree at the top.

I suggest making use of the 2-day bus pass and spend a night at various ryokan along the route. It’s relatively cheap also since this area is not so touristy yet. I paid around RM700 for 2pax half board.

Guys need some advice,

Is there anyway that i can pre-buy the non JR passes like the hankyu tourist pass here in malaysia ?

im taking AA to Osaka and will reach at 9.40pm. i can't find in google and by the time i reach the redemption counter it will be closed. for hankyu it closes at 10pm and opens at 8.30am the next day according to klook and i need it because im planning to take the earliest train from osaka to arashiyama to catch the sagano train open air couch + early visit to bamboo forest.

Hi all,

I'm planning a trip to osaka and kyoto from 1 to 11 May.
1. How many nights should I book for osaka and kyoto each? I'm planning 6(osaka) and 4 (kyoto) for now, without excluding other possible places first like Nara. Do suggest if it is feasible.
2. My Airbnb budget is around 300 a night for osaka, and around the same price for kyoto. Is it OK?
3. I'm not planning to go to Tokyo, mainly just within osaka and kyoto and nearby places. Are there many enough places to fill up 10 days?
4. Continuing from point 1, my main concern is the accommodation and I've seen a good Airbnb that I want to book tonight and want to make sure that the 6-4 nights arrangement is OK for osaka and kyoto respectively, or should I slot in anything else in between?

Thank you.

Thank you.

I drive to there. I did ask the hotel reception bout the bus. Bus would take 2h to reach. About the bus package not much information bro. Maybe you need to look online d.

For driving i took 1.5h actually can faster but due to a bit snow on road i worry of ice road so i drive rather slow. I start drive from 10am+ and reach around 12pm the ropeway to the top took like 30m then spend like 30min on the observation deck then lunch at there and continue to have fun playing snow outside the building for around 1.5h then the ropeway come down fast a bit. Then drive back to takayama reach at around 5pm+. Half day is possible if depart early morning. But there is no snow i think you wont spend so much time. Mostly you will enjoy the view taking pictures.

1. Osaka and Kyoto is not too far. consider flight time and departure time, you technically have 9 days to see around. So its feasible no matter how many nights you allocate each. Firstly, list down where you want to visit within each city.
2. how many people?
3. More than enough. Because 10 days surely not enough, at least for me tongue.gif
4. 6-4 should be ok.

Thanks... There was none during my travel period. All accommodation are mostly full for my travel period and expensive as well.

Really?

Actually cause my first night already reaching at 10pm so that's 1 day gone. 1 day for usj, 1 day for kobe. So technically 3 days left for really osaka.

You have any suggestions on the time allocation? I'm really open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Hey guys, just wanted to get a rough gauge..how crowded would Universal Studios be in February on a weekday? Will the waiting time be very long even on a weekday? I know during school holidays, it can get really crowded even on weekdays. My main concern is waiting/queuing time...

At most another 1 day for Osaka Castle, Kuromon Market, and shopping/eating in Namba.

2 days extra you can go east (Hiroshima, Miyajima, Himeji Castle)

Or go West (from Kyoto) and visit Shirakawago

Use this crowd calendar - http://www15.plala.or.jp/gcap/usj/

You can buy Express Pass for USJ to have shorter queue time. This will help you for very hot rides like Harry Potter and Flying Dinosaur
