I am planning to go Fukuoka , solo trip.
Seeing promo on May 2019
Either go before puasa for 4d 3n or start of ramadhan 7d6n.
<searched topic for Fukuoka but didnt see any itinerary>
Doing my research still, but mind anyone who had been there would suggest/share yours.

For accommodation , i found a few good options for Airbnb , whole room/studio like apartment.
A little bit more than the capsule hotel/hostel, and abit further from city, but ok.
Had my fun at the capsule &And Hostel in Kanda, Tokyo. But more room , privacy and space to store stuff would be nice.

Found one activity on airbnb to visit the cat island.
Looking to fill in the other days. and is there recommended used stuff store i must visit? biggrin.gif

Seem tiring journey. especially Day 2, u planning to walk along the path while visiting the temple along the path. the path doesnt seem much in autumn imo.

here where i visit during autumn night illumination last year.
Eikando, iinm start at 5/6pm, but try go there 1hr b4 closing time since a lot ppl will be queueing up early for the tix entry. but returning will be hellish, since everyone is queueing for the bus/taxi.
Toji, i love this place. unplanned but glad to visit it.
Himeji has night illumination as well. i visit at morning n saw notice they are having night illumination Cube somehing, return to kobe, n then Himeji again at night for it (day pass). i din enter the castle park at night due to very long queue.

if u wan, u can also try Kibune momiji tunnel at night. u can visit Kifune jinja 1st at evening. then return for momiji tunnel. choose the right train with the some seat face outside. the light will be close when passing momiji tunnel.

Don't think it's that tiring to be honest, should be nice just strolling along the path and popping into any temple or shrine that looks nice with autumn leaves. We are used to walking and hiking a lot so shouldn't be a big deal.

Looks like most of the night illuminations will be packed, I might give them a miss if that's the case.

Kibune is interesting, thanks for pointing that out. Not sure how to fit that into my itinerary though haha!

last time did plan for Eikando, Ginkakuji, Ruruko-in along the line.
Ruriko-in has steep price n very long queue (according to web research)
so we to switch to Kibuneyama. but clash with Eikando night ilumination, which kinda hard to achieve if doing evening trip in 1 go. ended split em in 2 days.

bout Arashiyama, u can try Jojakkoji n Daikaku-ji. i havent visit it for autumn foliage yet, but i did visit it off season tho.

Japs are crazy over the illuminations for some reason, once you've seen a few they all look pretty much the same I reckon.

I am guessing that you are taking AirAsia to Fukuoka

I am thinking to go as well but the timing of return flight is quite off

7 plus am flight and they don't allow sleeping in the airport

What is your return plan??

My friend said it is suicide during that month.

Cross finger the express waiting time is not too long.

The bus ride is included in the Tateyama Kurobe Option Ticket (One Way). Not your Japan Rail Pass.

Which side do you plan to start from. Because the route starts from one side and ends on another side. If you need to return to where you start off, you would need to take the Shinkansen back and its a 2 hour ride back.
