this is what i can come up for kyoto so far...need opinion
Oct 3rd (Thursday) – Reached KIX, haruka/limousine bus to kyoto
Oct 4th (Friday) – Kiyomizu-dera, Kodaiji Temple, Yasaka Shrine till Gion-Shijo Station, Kawaramachi Shopping Street, Nishiki Market, Imperial palace
Oct 5th (Saturday) – Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Golden Pavilion
Oct 6th (Sunday) – Fushimi Inari, Uji(Maybe), Nara
OCt 7th(Monday) - ????, back osaka

Anyone idea where can i slip in ginkakuji and philosopher's path?..or can skip?

I'm staying around Nishinari ward. roughly RM80+ per night for a 2 person apartment. Osaka is still far cheaper compared to Tokyo and Kyoto.
..and yes, Airbnb.

Also true about the weekend for Kyoto. Last time i was in Arashiyama there were like ~60 students cleaning up the river. Then again, this year its much colder than 2 years back on this date..

...also there were a carriage full of students when when i was on the shinkansen to osaka earlier today.

due to minpaku law. and also kyoto has accommodation tax levy.

Oct 4th. Nishiki market close at 6pm, n iinm 1 day of the week close. so do check and adjust. Gion Shirakawa & Hanamikoji Dori has nice surrounding. Imperial palace is nice, but path to it is loose pebble rock.
Oct 5th, Bamboo forest can be crowded. pls do go early. depend on how u return to kyoto station, if u using train, u would pass Nijo Castle.
Oct 6th, Do visit Uji. Nara is not pleasant. in fact both time i went to Nara, both time i dun really find myself enjoy too much. its way too overcrowded. i prefer Uji more.
if u stay at northern side of Kyoto station, i can suggest u visit Shosei-en Garden b4 check out. u can take a shot of garden with Kyoto Tower as backdrop as well n reflection of it on the pond.

bout Ginkajuji, i think on 5th. assuming u go arashiyama very early for less crowd bamboo forest experience. it has nicer garden compare to kinkakuji.

thanks for the tips
ya, kyoto seem like cheapest is airbnb and even at that price...fuuh, it's expensive
not yet even including osaka accommodation sweat.gif

for the bamboo forest, i don't think i'm coming back via train
i read first page, based on regentcid, stated using bus to go back kyoto station from golden pavilion

will consider stopping by uji but IMO just not much things to visit in uji based on my list right now

and do u mean can skip ginkakuji and philosopher's path?

Negligible difference in terms of weekdays vs weekends crowds, which is why I avoid theme parks completely nowadays
It's better to get the express pass if you want to maximize your time at the theme park

Philosopher's path is only nice during spring or autumn. With your timing, only go if you have time, otherwise skip

For arashiyama, it's better to be there early to avoid crowds and also to get a better chance of scoring seats on the sagano train, then bus it to kinkakuji. Can skip ginkakuji if you've already seen kinkakuji

Nara is sorta a must cos it has todaiji

no way i'm getting express pass laugh.gif
it's more expensive than the entrance ticket itself
if i buy the entrance tix and express pass, it would cost near to RM600 sweat.gif

ok, maybe will skip ginkakuji and philosopher's path

seem like the only place to visit in osaka is only namba, nipponbashi, dotonburi, shinsaibashi all the way to american village & Tsutentaku(other than USJ)

Have no regret to travel far to Okayama, as less tourist over there, Okayama Korakuen is impressive

Anyway, if anyone looking for spaworld alternative in osaka, I.will recommend this newly open Solaniwa onsen in Osaka Bay tower.

Solaniwa Onsen was artificial made onsen. Good for those want to try onsen inside Osaka city instead going Kobe try real hot spring.
Once you try real hot spring, you wont back to those artificial one biggrin.gif

Now you know my pain regarding accomodation in Kyoto tongue.gif
I paid AUD$900 for a 5 night stay for me and my wife this coming November (at least breakfast was included) sweat.gif

Sunday looks a bit packed with Fushimi, Uji & Nara in a single day. I think Nara itself deserves a day on its own.

Haha ya artificial onsen, too bad I travel in group of family who is super shy to try the onsen, or else I may plan a day trip to Arima =(

Anyone I think it is not bad choice to kill time in osaka during late evening besides shopping in namba / shinsaibashi.

And since it is new, I think it will be less congested compare to spaworld
