Thank you for your suggestion, I will look it up...I'm travelling in July

July is going to be very hot biggrin.gif lookup for a good mix of indoor activities/ attractions to visit, just in case the heat get to ya. But it's also a good time for Summer Festival so see if any of these festivals collide with your time of visit:

the Kyoto Gion Matsuri is one of the biggest around Kansai area. Consider experiencing one of these festival in Japan thumbup.gif although yes, highly crowded haha there is fun in seeing the float(s) and performances.

Yes heard of Daimonji but not very familiar with it. If i'm not mistaken - 3-4 characters. Gotta watch it from afar to see the characters form and lit up. But I think part of the fun is to join the crowd and savour the experience. According to one site, visitors usually get food/ drinks and enjoy at the riverbank while watching the characters form. Since it starts at 8pm, better be early to grab a good spot.

The heat in Japan is quite unlike Malaysia. Their humidity is very high. Also in Malaysia how often do we walk. smile.gif

@lyc1982 put it very well. If you sweat a lot, maybe a towel would be helpful.

Wet tissue is very helpful, especially if you smell. smile.gif Japan have lots cheap and nice body tissue. Hence normally I buy tons to bring back to HK when I am there.

Luckily i don't ohmy.gif use wet tissue because it's very cooling after that. HK very wet during summer; drained with sweat within 30min roaming outside. Everyday I couldn't wait to get back to Hotel after I've stepped out hahahaha. Ok abit OOT, but yes in Japan when it's hot - wet tissues will also be useful/ cooling.

And drink lotsa water to keep hydrated cat2

Instead of thinking, you could have googled and got the answer that August 2018 Tokyo average humidity was 77% vs KL 72%.

Even max humidity Tokyo was higher (100% vs 94%)

My first trip to Japan was in August, actually the heat and humidity isn't THAT bad, it's still bearable although you need to prepare to be quite sweaty and sticky if you're doing anything outdoors. But on the flip side it is peach season and super sweet super juicy cold peaches on a hot summer day is amazing.

Also got super yosakoi dance festival if your travel dates match.

You could be right about the seasonal demand but I think August is a summer holiday in Japan and the famous Lavender in Hokkaido is also available viewing for July and August only so I do not see any reason why Airasia decides not to have flights in August

I am not in the airline industry so I don't have data available, but I suspect the demand is just not sufficient. Anecdotally speaking, I have a LOT of SG-based friends who fly to hokkaido for winter every single year. The number of ppl I know who fly there for flower season is far, far lower.

Yea, I would guess that winter is far more popular for South East Asian people as snow is something they look for during winter. Summer of Hokkaido is pale in comparison compared to winter for Malaysian

Normally for mid october you can already see the best timing for Autumn leaves but for last year it shows the best color in early November. I would say the weather is tolerable. At night is like genting weather but afternoon is chilly.
