Hi! I'm planning to visit Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto around late October for 7 days. If I want to spend 3 days in Osaka, 1 day in Kyoto and last 3 days in Tokyo should I get the rm1k JR pass? or are there any cheaper alternative way to move between these 3 cities?
*
I recently did the same like you, flew in Tokyo, flew out from Osaka. I used Shinkansen because my parents don't want to take bus. If you want cheaper alternative from Tokyo to Osaka, search Willer Express overnight bus, way cheaper than Shinkansen.

wow didn't know Kyoto-Osaka was that cheap haha. No need for the JRpass then. Thanks!

Yeah, it's just 20-30 minutes away, they are in the same region. Some people stay in Osaka to explore Kyoto even.

kyoto - osaka 1 way is RM56
if travel with more than 2 people, thn better stay in kyoto to explore kyoto
the transportation cost both way everyday doesn't justify the difference in accommodation price

I paid RM22 only, Kyoto - Osaka. 3 stops, 30 minutes.

I agree it's better to stay in Kyoto to explore Kyoto, just sharing that some people commute from Osaka to explore Kyoto to give reader more option.

my bad, i was wrong
i confuse with RM56 and 560 yen

and the bad part is there are no direct route from kyoto to namba which most people will stay
so that will add extra cost and time for the commute

There are no refunds for cancellation. However, we allow changing reservation dates, when possible.

What’s ur itinerary or plans for Kyushu?

I will recommend just get JR Kyushu passes since most major tourist attractions/cities are connected by trains.

Using 5-day JR North Kyushu Pass, I did 2 day-trip from Fukuoka to Nagasaki and Huis Ten Bosch. Then onwards to Yufuin —> Beppu —> back to Fukuoka.

Going to Nagasaki from Fukuoka takes about 2hr by train, so I can’t imagine how long will it takes to drive...
*
My plan
9 Dec - Flight to Fukuoka
10 Dec - Nagasaki
11 Dec - Nagasaki
12 Dec - Sasebo/Huis Ten Bosch
13 Dec - Nagasaki
14 Dec - Fukuoka
15 Dec - Beppu/Oita (All Kyushu 5 day Pass)
16 Dec - Kumamoto
17 Dec - Kagoshima
18 Dec - Ibusuki
19 Dec - Makurazaki
20 Dec - Departure to malaysia

Should I get the JR North Kyushu pass for Nagasaki and Sasebo?

I read from blogs that bus is easier then subway.
But I have not been there. Probably those been there done that can teach us. I’m thinking to catch a bus to Nagasaki.

why you take bus to Nagasaki, because cheaper than JR?

Sales no good plus Airport tax are very expensive for budget airline
Budget airlines always prefer midnight arrived due to cheaper turnover cost. But due to Japan pollution law, all in land airport only can operation until 9pm.
That why Airasia withdraw Narita & Fukuoka operation, Sapporo due to high demand, it still can cover the cost.

I’m still doing my research Bus or train. I watch a vlog saying that the bus is straight forward from Fukuoka airport compare to the subway which you need to take train and change.

I’m flying with Vietnam airline with 30kg check in and 7kg hand luggage.
Will need to buy additional coming back from japan.

What time is your flight back?

Since AirAsia flight is quite early, I just took a taxi to go to the airport. Fare around 1400yen.

As for arriving, just take a bus since it’s the most convenient. Taking subway, you need to take shuttle bus to domestic terminal first

Earliest subway is around 6am and I think you arrive at Domestic terminal. Then you have to take free shuttle bus to transfer to International terminal.

Should be ok I guess. Immigration checkpoint only open around 6.45am-7.00am since it’s not a 24-hr airport. Expect the queue to be long...

I also stayed near Hakata Station but took taxi for the convenience. Paying around 1400yen vs. 520yen for subway fare (for 2)
