Well, that's not true! The design of the remote depends on the model of STB (and this one doesn't have the Netflix button). For the icon on the box, maybe everyone expects them to have Netflix certified, but they also hope for the inclusion of other apps, like YouTube and FOX+. Honestly, I'm quite surprised that they partner with FOX to launch FOX+.  smile.gif

So FOX+ finally will be launch in Malaysia???
have been waiting for so long!

It sounds like this box will give a run for astro 4k although iQiyi may be a deciding factor despite most 4k TV are not hdcp 2.2 compliant

4k?

Will be thrilled if they incr bit rate to deliver good hd for more channels! biggrin.gif

Anyway, contract coming up, see what they have to offer.

The H/W looks more like MI Box S but does not mention whether need to use WIFI or it comes with network port. If it comes with network port that would be good.

When I tried logging in to the new app, it says I'm not yet migrated to the new app. Then the rumours of new STB & 4K content might be true after all.

My wishlist:

- 4K
- Playstore enabled
- Support Internet streaming without needing that VLAN 600

Too good to be true? LOL

If the info floating around is correct then it has both Ethernet port and Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi now supports 5GHz and has MIMO. I guess it'll still be like old box where Ethernet is for Unifi TV VLAN and Wi-Fi is for the streaming apps and others.

I see no reason to still use the old IPTV protocol on separate VLAN. It's painful to only use cable for the new STB, when its already year 2019 & Youtube/Netflix stream 4K just fine on Wifi.

Can dedicated high bitrate and multicast work without a separate VLAN? YouTube is poorer image quality than real HD on a dedicated IPTV network and it is also not guaranteed to stream flawlessly all the time subject to congestion. All streaming services like YouTube and Netflix use lower bitrate than an IPTV or satellite broadcast because they can't use multicast or broadcast to save bandwidth. They also provide multiple qualities and auto select resolution because they can't guarantee it will work at max resolution all the time. Same thing like Unifi TV on Streamyx which doesn't have dedicated VLAN bandwidth.

Nowadays I believe is mostly yes. Improvements in Internet bandwidth, latency, CDNs & advance codec like HEVC.

The existing Unifi IPTV runs around 9 Mbps. If the new STB still uses IPTV, it should use at least 20 Mbps bitrate.

At least provide option to stream via Internet at high bitrate. To use that VLAN 600, limiting where you can put that old box, is painful for me.

Well I tried the all-new playTV app via registering new account by phone number, and this is my ultimate favourite by far. You can watch multiple live TV for up to 4 different channels simultaneously as shown below.

Other features on its new video player include:
- LIVE audio & subtitles selection - you can change preferred language in real-time as live TV (and VOD) plays
- minimize the live TV (and VOD content) as you scrolling other in-app content - just like the YouTube app
- improved video quality
- Cool stuffs: share some screenshots (tap the icon as shown on first pic below) and GIFs (tap and record at least 3 secs) to Facebook or WhatsApp
