New unifi android box

That remote looks very similar to Xiaomi Mibox android TV box. Is it possible Unifi is using the mibox?

Now they are using mibox as stb.

I remember last month before I came back from Ireland, one of the ISP there are using Apple TV 4K as their STB. That was interesting.

This is nothing new most iptv/cable/satellite tv release their own android box such as US at&t tv, Indians airtel streaming box,ACT stream tv box..etc yup even some provider giving Appletv 4k such as Swiss isp Salt

No Netflix icon on the box & remote..
Meaning not Netflix certified? 🤔

Well, that's not true! The design of the remote depends on the model of STB (and this one doesn't have the Netflix button). For the icon on the box, maybe everyone expects them to have Netflix certified, but they also hope for the inclusion of other apps, like YouTube and FOX+. Honestly, I'm quite surprised that they partner with FOX to launch FOX+.

this new app seems like a mystery...

i dun see it in playstore!

so, where are people getting the apk and trying it, say it dun work??


if those photos show the real thing, it would suggest fox+ may be possible but not netflix.

anyway, all is pure speculation until it comes out or it doesn't.

unless unifi does a better job in communicating.

tx3 mini box and remote also look the same.

Made new account to try it.
Can run on both phone and android box (tested on tx3 mini).
Better UI especially the video playing menu but some channels like fox movies, fox & fox life are not in the available channels.

Thanks, i swear it wasnt there yesterday when i checked!

Now can find, tested.... message was.. not migrated to new app yet, wont work, use old app.

Better we relax, wait...

When the migration is authorized, the old app will go dead.

Then we know if new app will work on what devices.

I am optimistic it will work on most.

It is one of the requirement to get Netflix endorsement by adding a dedicated Netflix button on the remote during the official launch unless the endorsement received after the launch.
This means that this box is not Netflix certified now even though the SoC/manufacturer have the endorsement.

It is not easy/simple to receive Netflix certified compare to other apps which is officially available on Android TV Playstore for all device but it is blocked by region or exclusive to certain partners.

Similar remote but voice button position not same.
Btw, the manufacturer is not Videostrong.

What channel you are watching? Was it the video at least on par with Astro Go HD video compared to the old app?

EDITED: I've made a new account for testing and the HD quality is quite good with 4.8mbps of bit rate compared to the old app which is only 2mbps.

if indeed this is the chipset the new box will be, not too shabby.

s905x2 is relatively new; there are like a dozen brands which made boxes with this chipset.

another dozen or so with the newer s905x3.

2+8gb will be sufficient if it is restricted to playtv proprietory firmware, apps and UI.

however since it is ATV... even unrooted and "cracked", it will probably be unable to run astrogo.

It sounds like this box will give a run for astro 4k although iQiyi may be a deciding factor despite most 4k TV are not hdcp 2.2 compliant
