tx3 (mini and max) is a very popular model since 2017; uses amlogic S905W chipset - a rather low end but functional one.

tx6 is a newer one with allwinner chipset; specs good.

BUT... specs on paper is not everything.. a lot depends on firmware and what u r looking for.

Tanix has tx2, tx3, tx5, tx6, tx9... many variations for all of them.

i do not know for sure but i think tx6 comes rooted, no option to unroot, u need someone/procedure to help u - please search n read.

unrooting is required to run astro go and unifi playtv... if u do not use them, that's irrelevant.

b4 u buy, list yr requirements to the seller and ask for confirmation, e.g...

.. ram + storage?
.. android version... 8.1, 9?
.. firmware version?
.. Alice UI?
.. option to close root?
.. can run astrogo, playtv.. other apps?
.. Bluetooth?
.. price?

Hello there, I'm facing issues with this TX3 Mini where the Netflix app doesn't work well with the remote control.

Do you guys have any alternative for this other than using the mouse? Because I'd like to navigate the app with the remote control instead, kindly advice

I've checked around before and they said the current Netflix app version is catered more for tablet or smartphone so it wasn't meant for TVs or remote control etc. I actually tried installing the Netflix TV version but it is not compatible.

No other way.... but to use mouse... wireless mouse or air mouse.

Becos netflix is built for AndroidTV os... tx3 mini is regular android os, not ATV.

though of buying tx3mini for parents to use.

is there any good apps reinstalled easily navigate for Movies ?
UI friendly to use ?

* no aotg else things would be easier & i'm not living with them

if yr folks are using pc, devices, smart phones all the time, it will be OK.

if not, it will be difficult... more so if u yrself do not know these boxes enough.

it is not just how to navigate but to maintain, and keep up with updates.

Anyone here managed to update to ATV version for this box?

i don't recall reading anyone having done this.

the ATV rom for s905w exists - for both tx3 mini and max.

but i doubt it is of much use... u dun get L1; certain settings options may be lost; astro go won't work well.

better off using the tx3 max rom which is Alice UI, nice and fast, BT.

and... with kodi (only kodi, not mx or vlc), u can get dtshdma, ddtruehd lossless audio playback.

that is a great feature u dun find in many rm300-400 boxes.

Hi AVFan, good to see u here... I plan to buy my 1st android box, it is TX6 Allwinner H6. is that ok???? why someone told me Amlogic chip more suitable for msia....

if u describe what u want it do, i can suggest a bit better... things like...

.. what stuff u want to watch online?
.. what broadband speed u have?
.. want to run astro go, unifi playtv?
.. using home theater? 5.1, 7.1?
.. doing much local playback.. i.e. yr own files... how big, what type...?
.. want netflix hd/4k or yr tv already have it?
.. have some exp with android apps procurement, installation, updates... with phone or tablet?

Not all boxes can run this app... tx3 mini or max can... very low cost box.
No, i dun mean illegal astro channels... those, u find somewhere else, i do not discuss these.

.. if u alerady have hyppbox, no need playtv app... but fyi, not all boxes can do this app.... tx3mini, max can... hence this thread.
.. if u r not into hometheater, local playback for big files, u do not need costly box.
Even low cost android boxes can stream well but generally not so good for playback... but u dun use, so... no need to spend too much.
.. if u use android phone or tablet, u will be able to use the box very quickly... becos same principles.

Tx3 or tx6... u can ask seller if it can do what u want. Price about same. Tx6 specs good but specs are not everything.

If u want to use astrogo, be sure to ask seller if it can work, if he will unroot for u if u can unroot yrself.... becos... must unroot for it to work.

I hv only used tx3 mini, tx3 max, tx5max... all good. Cant say more for tx6.

And also, is it easy to upgrade the TX3 mini to the new Alice UI?

Is not about L1 but rather for those who preferred different UI and perhaps more efficient firmware with a cheap box..

i do not know if there is a tx3mini alice UI firmware.
older tx3mini comes with 7.1 traditional UI while current ones, buyers report they are 8.1.
perhaps someone can confirm if the new 8.1 ones are Alice or old traditional UI.

but a few like mine, older orig 7.1... have converted to tx3MAX firmware with Alice UI, still android7.1
need some work... check post #458.

i suppose u can, should work.
personally, i am not a big fan of ATV os.. i dun find it faster or better in anyway compared to regular os.
for tx3, Alice UI is v good.
