Hi guys, I'm planning a trip to Yogyakarta this coming March, quite last minute decision. However, I sorta plan to go to Yogyakarta just to see Borobudur and Prambanan and then head to to climb Mt Bromo and then leave at Surabaya, in around maybe 4 to 5 days. Is there any recommended itinerary? And also recently Mount Kelud in East Jawa erupted, will it be safe to go there?
Thanks |

Just visited Yogyakarta for 5 days and came back 2 weeks ago... big thank you to everyone on this thread for all the info which helped to develop an itinerary... and especially to Littleprawn for providing his driver contact
Day 1: Arrived in early afternoon, checked into Ibis Styles Jln Dagen. Walked to the Tugu, then cabbed to Kotagede to visit the ruins, mosque and cemetery, and window shop for silver trinkets. Bought some snacks at Pasar Gede. Becak ride back to Jln Malioboro, walked around for awhile then back to hotel (Beringharjo market and the others were closed). Day 2: Early morning, visited the Kraton, mosque, and Taman Sari. Spent more time at Taman Sari actually exploring the ruins and a funny `underground' mosque. Visited Fort Vredeburg. After lunch, went to Prambanan complex. Driver was a bit late so only had 1+ hours for Prambanan+Sewu. Drove over to Ratu Boko and just managed to squeeze it in before closing. Back to Prambanan for the Ramayana ballet then back to hotel. Day 3: Headed east for the day towards Solo. Stopped by Plaosan since we missed it the previous day. Reached Solo late morning and visited Mangkunegaran Kraton and then Pasar Triwindu. Continued on to the foot of Lawu, where we had lunch and then visited Sukuh and Cetho. Drove back to Yogya as it was getting late, had to skip Tawangmangu waterfall. Day 4: Checked out of Ibis Styles and headed northwest for Dieng. Stopped by Mendut and Pawon on the way. Continued on some pretty rubbish roads towards Wonosobo, stopped by tea plantations on the way. After lunch, drove up to Dieng and visited Telaga Warna, Sikidang, Gatotkaca, Bima, Arjuna, and the museum. Went to a special lookout point for a fantastic view of the plateau thanks to the driver. Stopped by the neighbourhood geothermal plant before heading back down to Wonosobo, then back to Manohara hotel at Borobudur for check-in. Day 5: Sunrise and the rest of the morning at Borobudur. Checked out after lunch and flew back in the evening. Overall quite an enjoyable trip Also missed the Kelud eruption by a week This post has been edited by Harleqwyn: Feb 19 2014, 09:40 PM |

Hello,
I am wondering whether frequent-flyer to Jakarta, could share their average airfare. The reason is: I bought my dirt-cheap return (one-way) ticket, from Bandung to Kuala Lumpur on early January 2014, during the Airasia Zero Sale 2014. I have not bought my TO (Depart) ticket, as I wsh to depart to Jakarta from Kuala Lumpur, and the next day, by land to Bandung. The reason again I had not purchase my TO ticket is at that time, Airasia had no more good deal. I'd been observing that the TO price has averaged about RM200 per way, since right after the Airasia Sales. Right now, KLM/AirFrance has good deal. RM280 ALL-IN. One side of me want to seek new experience from this Airline, but I kinda put off by such high price. So, would I still manage to buy my TO airticket (KUL-CGK) on January 3 (Sat) or January 4(Sun) 2015 at MAX RM150? What you all think? UPDATE: Sorry, I wrongly posted. I just posted at Jakarta Thread. You may refer to below link for the post. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/950436/+360?hl=jakarta This post has been edited by weirdguy: Mar 9 2014, 10:42 PM |
