In Mangga Dua area got lot of mall? I am planning to visit few shop in Jakarta Selatan.. if stay in mangga dua how far? I am not sure where to stay, so if walk in hotel cheaper or online booking?

Depend. Most of the time esp bigger hotel, walk in more expensive. For smaller hotels, online & walk in slmost similar after they give u the discount but not all the time. Anyway to save time from walking from hotel to hotel, book early. From mangga dua, u can take a short tuk-tuk ride to kota or glodok brt stn. Thereafter u can take the brt direct to the last southern stop at blok m. Main interchange stn is hArmoni. Can switch lines there to more malls

Yeah Jakarta normally Shopping here & there but do not miss the older part of Jakarta at the end of the Northernomost BRT stop at Kota. Thereafter you can just walk further North or take a short angkutan / taxi to Farquahar Square /museum area. This area is the old Dutch Colonial square of Batavia. except they dun paint the buildings there 100% red like Malacca  biggrin.gif ..

Another 1KM further, is the famous Traditional Sunda Kelapa Port.. Good for picture opportunity  smile.gif
Yeah blok M slightly near to bintaro although still far. probably a short taxi ride to Blok M & you can take the Southern End BRT at Blok M to Kota... BTW, the BRT fare is fixed rate irregardless of distance.. I forgotten how much dy..~3000rp?  hmm.gif
*
Kota is where those plaza indonesia are located right? haha the price is quite cheap la a bit negligible tongue.gif

No lah. Kota is the old batavia. Old colonial buildings near to the sunda kelapa port. This stn is the last Northern stop for brt. This stn also close to mangga dua area.
Plaza indonesia is located in the centre of jakarta highrises. Just like our klcc/ sultN ismAil area.

Hello,

I am wondering whether frequent-flyer to Jakarta, could share their average airfare.

The reason is:
I bought my dirt-cheap return (one-way) ticket, from Bandung to Kuala Lumpur on early January 2014, during the Airasia Zero Sale 2014. I have not bought my TO (Depart) ticket, as I wsh to depart to Jakarta from Kuala Lumpur, and the next day, by land to Bandung.

The reason again I had not purchase my TO ticket is at that time, Airasia had no more good deal. I'd been observing that the TO price has averaged about RM200 per way, since right after the Airasia Sales.

Right now, KLM/AirFrance has good deal. RM280 ALL-IN.
One side of me want to seek new experience from this Airline, but I kinda put off by such high price.

So, would I still manage to buy my TO airticket (KUL-CGK) on January 3 (Sat) or January 4(Sun) 2015 at MAX RM150? What you all think?

hi everyone, i'd be heading to jakarta to spend and waste some time soon in may for a 3d 2n trip

hope anyone could give me some heads up

i think of flying airasia to jakarta on a friday and be back on a sunday

would reach jakarta roughly timing 8:05 am

i'm not too sure on which hotel to choose, le meridien jakarta, or millennium hotel or hotel aryaduta or jw marriot

budget is around RM1,500 for flight and hotel stay

my intention to jakarta is to stroll around the shopping center and people watch. and of course eat at any random shop in a shopping center

i'm not buying anything as in kl i can find what i want already but i hope that RM1000 (idr 3,462,418) is sufficient for the trip. is it so?

which is the recommended hotel and someone pls suggest how do i get from seokarno hatta airport to the hotel? the best and cheapest alternative to shopping center and all? pls guide me how to get there and all

i'm not fussy when it comes to food, so i basically can eat anything available in the shopping belts
at night, preferably i would like drink a few pints of beer at a decent bar (affordable within my total budget of course)

hope a kind soul can help me out with much thanks notworthy.gif

not sure about the hotel but RM1000 for 3 days is quite enough unless you are into high end shopping and eating. Yes you can find stuffs in kl but personally i feel the fashion is more updated in Jakarta. malaysia mostly gets out of season stuff.

you can always take a blue bird taxi. many taxi companies will come and harass you once you leave the departure hall so be sure the recognise the blue birds properly. their taxi queue is to the left of the arrival hall. their drivers wear their uniforms.

there's the transjakarta bus way if you can figure it out to move around jakarta. otherwise their taxi fares are pretty ok (without the crazy jam). beers are not exactly cheap in jakarta though but it will still fit your budget.

I think there are 1 or 2 hotels that near to Grand Indonesia, a very marvelous shopping centre. In my perspective, better than Malaysia's Mall.
Erm, my visit was backed in year 2012.

The nearby Hotel's rate was minimum USD150 per night, but I did not choose to stay there and ended up choosing Morrissey Service Apartment.
A bit far off from the Shopping District, but it is located in a quiet neighbourhood. I love the boutique concept of the hotel.

I wouldn't exactly recommend you to stay at Morrissey. It was just my preference and also my wishes, to try new kind of Hotel.
You have to do your homework and see Google Maps.

I agreed with zatan, Blue Bird Taxi is recommended, especially for Foreigner.
However, I only have somewhat average experience with my taxi rides. Some is quite - honest and polite. While some is just trying to get extra quick-buck or just not friendly.

Yeah, I was aware of Malindo, RM199 I checked last week ago. I will check again some other time.

By the way, have you took other airline before like Garuda or KLM ?

thanks biggrin.gif
i will study up the offers of various airlines biggrin.gif
trying to shortlist anything below RM1500 for my flight and hotel 3d 2n (so far, many 5 star hotel available at this price through airasia)

if taken the bus then no jam right? how much roughly is the bus fares? is it rp3500? that's cheap! so from the airport to the hotel i shud be taking the blue bird taxi?
ok sure..... ya i plan to go grand indonesia, plaza indonesia, plaza senayan or is it senayan city mall and etc

i don't mind paying more on food..... i'll be selective in buying things, see anything worth or not on my getaway trip.....

hope to enjoy the hospitality of the locals and the window shopping experience

even if the local taxi were to "cheat", i won't mind being ripped off rp100,000 because after all is all about the experience and hospitality of the country thumbup.gif

nope. garuda and KLM was way over budget for me laugh.gif i got ~RM140 for Malindo last time

not really but they can see that you are trying to communicate with their local language and may get better treatment than ang mohs (in terms of being ripped off laugh.gif ).

bus is really really cheap but you have to know how to take lar. though if it rains then the ride wont be fun laugh.gif

yeap those are the top few malls. plaza indonesia and plaza senayan is like our star hill in terms of the shops on offer. be sure to try the magnum cafe at grand indonesia thumbup.gif drool.gif and anomali coffee if you know how to read a map and search for the shop biggrin.gif

Hey everyone. I'm going to Jakarta this coming April. Never been to Jakarta, so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm traveling as a couple and planning to stay at Fave Hotel Tanah Abang. Anyone have any recent experience? Any other recommended hotel?

Trip will be 4 days/3nights. If anyone have any suggestion on what to do in Jakarta, do advise me. Tq. wink.gif

Hi all,

My wife and I are planning to go to Jakarta and then Bandung next month.

We plan to take the train from Jakarta to Bandung but we would like to spend a night in Jakarta.

Since we'll be arriving around 2+pm in Jakarta, and might be leaving the next morning to Bandung, we only have a limited time in Jakarta.

Where would you guys recommend us to stay the night? We would like to start the hotel hunting but we are not sure which location is the best to spend a night in Jakarta before boarding to Bandung the next day.

Preferably a place where we could walk around at night and there's easy access to good food.

Thank you.

Budget is not as high as staying in Hotel Mulia. Around 100+ or lower per night should be okay.

Thinking maybe we just want to hangout watching a movie since we'll be free at night.

Also would like to tryout good food.
