Need ideas to boost the wifi. The speed is really slow since MCO

Mine is the 500mbps plan

Speedtest says download 23.9 mbps and upload is 17.8 mbps. I am not gettin what i paid for right
*
This speed is a way too low... kindly test using cabled connection direct to the Router and if it's still the same, kindly file a report to CS @ 1800 18 1818.

Thanks.

No Exception? I mean what else do I even need to get the connection into my unit other than the fiber line, router and modem?
*
Hi, TIME is adapting no premise access policy to safe guard interest of the customers and service installers during this MCO period.

Probably you will need to use the Mobile Data or Free Wifi at your building.

Thanks.

Yea will try.. This is based on the 2.4 ghz connection that my laptop can connect.

Would getting a better router helps to extend wifi coverage or get better speed?  certain rooms can access wifi via installed extender but the speed is even crap than this

The router is Archer C1200
*
Try to test using a cable to clarify the problem. If your laptop not capable of supporting 5GHz, changing a new router you still cant make full use of it....

Thanks.

Sifu,

Need help.

On TIME and using the TP Link C1200 router.

Have subscribed to SmartDNS and have inputted the DNS settings into the Router, no problem.

The problem is:-

I have a Chromecast, and the its hotwired to seek out the Google DNS. 8888 and 8844

I have followed some guides on the internet on how to set a static route that guides the 8888 and 8844 back to 192.168.0.1 (router ip)

It's supposed to work, but it doesn't work. Pinging 8888 and 8844 keeps getting replies.

Am at my wits end here. Any sifu can help? Is it a problem with the router? if i needs changing, which model is a good one that allows me to 100% block Google DNS so my Chromecast works?

THanks.

Hi, Pls refer the previous reply.

This is the method i have tried. but it doesn't work

Ping 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. still gets reply
*
This problem has been reported too by some users previously ... please kindly upgrade the router to latest firmware.

If you are on Archer C1200, then it will be Build 20180502 rel.45702 (official).

Thanks.

Is it possible to suspend my account during this MCO period?

I'm stuck here at my hometown and I'm paying for nothing for the last month.

God knows when will I be back home.
*
Hi, please kindly talk to CS @ 1800 18 1818.

As far, TIME don't practice temp account suspension.

Thanks.

Bro, thought about switching to this from Unifi. How is their consistency DL/UL ??
*
It's pretty much consistent for both DL & UL as viewing from it 100% full fibre deployment all the way from it's Data Centre to your house.

Thanks.

Hi,

i want to ask something regarding IPv6 prefixes. How can I request a /56 prefix? Because by default TIME only give /64 prefix which does not enough for my LAN network.
*
You can set the prefix length at your router.

Just out of curiosity, how is that possible /64 not enough for your LAN ?

Update: Retested again on ethernet and i got 400 plus mbps for download which is amazing compare to my wifi connection of 40.7. 10 times faster

So question would be: Am i being limited by my laptop device or the router's wifi (Archer C1200) or the fact that im using my wifi upstairs in my room. Would a better router or mesh wifi solve this issue? The technical support guy actually suggested that I should downgrade my plan
*
Hi, now you know the problem is actually caused by the incoming bandwidth. So if you are running wifi most of the time, I suggest you bring your laptop near to the TIME stock router, temp disable any repeater or any other wifi devices, do a test on both 2.4GHz & 5GHz band.
If that gives you acceptable speed, then you may consider getting a better router / mesh solutions / wired an AP at upstairs.

Thanks.

Hi. My contract is ending next month, TIME called my wife and told her that they will charging us additional RM200++ on top of the monthly fee to upgrade our router if want to continue the service.  Tried to call back yesterday but couldn't get through. Will try again later.

In the mean time, anyone else received such call?
Kindly confirm the number that you received the call.

1. Is that a normal practice? (i.e. additional fee upon contract ended)
If you are going for the default stock router that comes bundled with the package, there is NO additional charge.
Unless you choose to upgrade to a more powerful router.

2. Is it compulsory to upgrade router?
No, it's not.

Thanks.

Hi,

TIME already has coverage on landed properties since couple of years ago but at a very limited small scale.
Mostly covering MDUs as you all may already known.

Thanks.

Hi sifu,
Urgent help needed. I think I might have damaged fiber cable during cable management. Can I just replace it with any fiber cable such as below? LOS light is blinking red. I called TIMe and they won't be able to do check inside during MCO.
Anybody from penang has extra can offer I'll gladly pay for it. Tqvm.

Hi, this is JJ from Penang.

Penang has many greenzones & we are allowed to attend to your case (provided your building is within greenzone) & approval is given by your building management.

Please snap some pics to me to have a look on your case.

I want to really thank JJ for his help on personal capacity to loan a replacement cable while waiting for technician to come over sometime next week.
This has helped mitigate any downtime for coming week work and children online schooling. Really appreciate his great help even though I didn't sign up the service from him.
If you looking to install TIME at your place in penang, pls do look for him, guarantee good service 👍

I am a TIME subscriber, and it's a necessity for me since I work from home.

I need to move apartments since the lease to the current one is expiring; however, when I checked the TIME website, the earliest relocating date they have is on the 17th of June, which is way too late.

Would it be possible to have a third party contractor to come do the relocation?
*
Hi, only 1 dedicated SI/Contractor is assigned to a specific building. You can't request 3rd party outside contractor to do it.

Please kindly request again via the CS @ 1800 18 1818.

Thanks.
