hope some one can enlighten me, thanks!

Just got my time 600mbps installed this morning.

I got the HG8145B7N router but it is not directly connected to fibre cable.

Seems like it connects to a lan cable to the wall and link to another huawei device (as below picture, it is an ONT).

Does this means that my HG8145B7N is in bridge mode, i can simply buy a new router (AX73) and replace the HG8145B7N and connect via my PPOE logins?

Thanks!

This is an ONU, yes you can your own Router and configure PPPOE and connect to the LAN1 port of this ONU.

Thanks.

Thanks thanks! learnt alot after browing through this thread and also surveying on the rounter model.

For budget concern.

I am thinking to go with AX73 (main rounter) + a mesh unit RE705X.

Do you recommend this setup for a budget and if not RE705X any better option to pair with AX73.
*
Hi, you are most welcome smile.gif

RE705X is a decent choice too seeing it can be conveniently plug into a power outlet.
It really depends on the size of your unit.
Pairing both AX73 is also a good option.

Hi all, I'll be moving to a new condo with only Time available for internet service.

Currently my Unifi plan includes 500mbps downs + voice calls for RM129, wonder is it possible to get similar quotes from Time? or we could only pick from what they offer as they're the only service provider in the condo?
*
For Fiber Broadband, it's based on existing plans available.
A closer to your requirement is 600Mbps + RM2.50 (60mins Free Calls) / RM10 (330mins Free Calls)
Promo : RM99 for First 6 months, RM139 (Month-7th onwards).

Nowadays been seeing TIME coming into some landed houses in townships. This is a good thing right? Anyone can attest to the speed and reliability? Looking at the 600Mbps RM129/month package
*
Good & Bad...
Good is landed properties users get to try out the service.
Bad is many (not all) infra are route through the drains which prone to lots of issues which affect stability & performance.

Hi all,

I'm planning to get 600mbps package, for those getting this package, are you getting modem + wifi7 router, two separate devices? Because I have 200mbps package on another house that comes with Wifi6 router and modem in one single device, I plan to use my own router/mesh system for the 600mbps.
Hi, you will get 1x ONT (WiFi7) if your unit only has a Fiber Wall Socket (FWS), otherwise if you have a soho box, then you will get a ONU + an ONT (wifi7 Router).
It does't matter, if you are given with 1 unit of ONT (combo of ONU & Router), call CS to request them to turn into bridge mode & connect your own Router/Mesh System.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I tried to google search FWS vs Soho Box.

I believe Soho Box is the one in the middle?
The left twos are SoHo Box.

I have one on the left on upstairs and one on the right at downstairs store room, the fibre is going in from outside into this downstairs store room and will joint with a connector to go to upstairs.
Is this a landed property ?

So for my case, I'm having FWS and will get one ONT, instead of changing to bridge mode, can request the installer to bring ONU+ONT?
It's predefined what equipment to give, you can't request for custom equipment to be provided.

Oh typo, maybe I remembered wrongly, I think RM129/month was TM's package (forgot the speed). Yeah 6 months price of RM99 promo. You using 600MBps package too?
Really? So far my TM unifi 100mbps so far okay, haven't faced any technical issue which involved drains (i think). Past 3 years since i started using fibre, there have been some downtime but I think is TM's problem and resolved within a day (actually not a good thing, a day is a long time, thinking how to get refund/rebates when this happens again)
Which package are u on?
*
Some landed areas TM will route the cable via the drains in microduct & enter the house, this infra normally coming from pedestal or pole... vs time's one (in this case we refer to drain case), which mount the hub box in the drains and don't mention about cable wise which is clip on type to the drain wall, it's very easy to be vandalised, prone to rodents issues & don't mention during drain flooding time....
It's really up to your choice afterall.

My contract expires May 2025 - what if I want to continue with "no contract" as I will move to different city in August. The T&C says I need to tell 3 months ahead and I am beyond this. 3 months is really predatory term. The bot only says wait till someone calls you. Of course no one called. Is there installation fee for "no contract"?

2. Contract Term & Service Duration

2.1 Contract Term. The Agreement shall be effective from the “Start Date” as specified in the Service Order and shall expire by the “Expiry Date” as specified in of the Service Order unless if renewed pursuant to Clause 2.2 below (“Contract Term”).

2.2 Renewal. Unless otherwise notified by either Party in writing at least three (3) month’s prior to the Expiry Date, this Agreement shall be automatically renewed upon its expiry date for the same duration as specified in the Service Order on the same terms and conditions as contained herein, including this Clause 2.2.

This refers to complimentary wifi which means it is the "FREE" service given to buildings (MDU) or landed properties (SDU) managment office & common area the moment they enter to exchange for business.
Not for ordinary subscribers.

Hmm yeah, then meaning TM will be better in terms of their outdoor infra and reliability? Is this the same case for TIME in most other areas that TIME covers?
Provided service is deployed in a proper condition & with good installation.
Is this the Fibre-to-the-home thing that TIME is promoting or something else?

Is it worth to renew plan with offer RM10 off x 12 months?
I currently is 200Mbps which is RM104.94 after tax.

The renew will stick to 24 months right?
*
Hi, do request the CS to reply you with a black & white stating the renewal contract period.
As there 2 options, one is 12-months & the other 24-months.

Thanks.

Hi, I'm currently using Maxis HomeFibre RM129 (100Mbps). If I switch to TIME Fibre, will I need to reinstall the fibre cable, or can I use the existing one? FYI, I'm staying at landed property, the fibre cable was done by TM contractor.
*
For landed properties, like your case you mentioned it was done by TM contractor, I assume it is NOT prelaid type, meaning initially your house does not have the fiber prelaid when the developer handed over to you, and when you subscribed for Unifi, then only TM contractor pulled in for you.
In this case, you can either choose to have the Time cable joined to your existing fiber (in a FTB) at your backdoor or front yard (depends where the cable coming from), this way minimize the recabling hassle inside your house.
The drawback of this is in the future if you decided to switch back to Maxis/Unifi, recabling has to be done again.
Another method is leave the existing cable as it is, then have Time SI to pull in their own cable, the drawback of this is there might be some hassle of cable pulling.

Thanks.

It seems TIME will be sunsetting Voice app soon. Now we can only use the POTS port in ONU for that. Which means we will not be able to use our own SIP phone for that.
*
If you have your soft phone and you know the SIP credentials, you still can configure it into your soft phone.

Not yet signed up. My house is a condo with 900 sqft and my room is roughly 7 to 8 meter away from my router, perhaps self buying a mesh system will be better if comparing with the one provided by TIME?
*
Get yourself your own router, avoid getting the stock WiFi7 router.
