Don't think they can mesh due to different standards. Packet loss with wifi is probably expected. I have my hg8145x6 set to bridge mode and use my old rt ac66u as a router. Then I have TP-Link omada EAP610 for wifi. I use the other hg8145x6 node as a repeater(lowered transmission power, disabled 2.4g, hidden 5g can't disable for some reason) to connect a PC.

My suggestion is, buy a good quality Ethernet cable to connect the PC to the router. Or you can buy a fibre media converter and then buy transparent fibre cable to run around your house if you don't like Ethernet cable being seen

its a rented condo so limited options for the time being. ALL IT did suggested me to buy another RT-AX53U act as a mesh to connect with my existing RT-AX53U router tho

Yes, you can mesh multiple Asus router. But you cannot mesh Asus with Huawei.

Am i able to connect LAN cable direct to Huawei ONT (which was placed at my front door) and NOT from my indoor router?

I am able to do that with my unifi last time thats why i pulled a cable direct from outside to my room but not with TIME Huawei ONT.

Can, provided you know the OLT authentication password... But why buy your own if you can get for free with warranty from the service provider ?
Thanks.

If you are still on the older ONUs, then it's still possible with some customization, nways not possible for the new ONU anymore. But the new Huawei HG8145X6 ONT (2-in-1) you can.

Hi all,

I got a TIME internet connection ~3 years back. Back then, they gave me a EG8240H5 ONT and WA8021V5 wifi router.

In April 2023, I signed up for a re-contract because they offered me HG8145X6 mesh (2 devices) and RM20 off for full 2y contract. When they came for the installation, I kept the EG8240H5 ONT because my home at that time had Fiber cable at the switch panel and I wanted to keep the wifi routers in the living room and bed room for good coverage.

Now, I moved to a new place where the fiber cable is coming directly to the living room. Because of that, I want to remove the EG8240H5 and use the HG8145X6 as the ONT+Wifi Router 2-in-1.
When I asked the relocation person to change this configuration, they said they can't do that and asked me to contact Time customer service to change it. But when I contact Time customer care phone, they're saying that they can't change this configuration due to back end issues.

On some online research, I found that the OLT at TIME end is configured with the MAC address of my ONT. This might be the reason it is not easy to change the ONT from EG8240H5 to HG8145X6. But I would expect TIME customer care or some one in their technical team should be able to change it at the OLT end or wherever required to remove EG8240H5 from my setup. I just went round and round with TIME customer care for a whole day without any progress.

Does anyone know how I can remove EG8240H5 from my setup and configure the HG8145X6 directly as ONT keeping its Wifi router functionality (2-in-1)? Has anybody done that?

HI, what do you want to configure ? Once it is connected to the main node, it's already meshed.

I wanted to configure the weekly auto restart for every node..
Currently only available for main node..

not the 1st time , previously i already complained and lodge report to CS to mention that the routing towards China Telecom network is lousy

CODE
Ping statistics for 140.205.94.189:
   Packets: Sent = 91, Received = 64, Lost = 27 (29% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
   Minimum = 310ms, Maximum = 345ms, Average = 323ms

They say We will call back you after our network dept checked and yes i never receive any call about that

Maybe you can try change hosts of taobao.com and www.taobao.com to China Mobile IP (get from https://zijian.aliyun.com/detect/http/HTTP_...-1651666215338)

or just visit taobao using phone / world.taobao.com (SG CDN)

It's 2024 now and connection to China is still horrible. Word is already spreading in one of the China Malaysia community that I happen to join.

China work apps like DingTalk are affected too.

The issue now is TIME using NTT as upstream and NTT is having severe congestion to China Telecom (Blame CT and NTT in both case)
The ultimate solution for TIME to solve this is reroute China Telecom traffic to other route
China Unicom so far still ok but the best China ISP for TIME is China Mobile (Thanks to CMI)

or

simply enable WARP / WARP+ solve this issue

or

find a China Mobile / Chunghwa Telecom (Taiwan) server as relay
