QUOTE(yurie @ Jun 2 2025, 02:58 PM) U Mobile currently uses Celcom's 2G network for domestic roaming, a collaboration that began in 2019. This means U Mobile customers can access 2G services through Celcom's network in areas where U Mobile's own coverage is not available |

QUOTE(JLA @ Jun 2 2025, 03:39 PM) .No lah. ....... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U_Mobile .... Networks U Mobile operate 4G LTE and 4G LTE-A networks. As of 2015, U Mobile claimed to have 95% population coverage from a combination of over 10,000 sites of 3G and 4G LTE own-built, 3G RAN share and 2G Domestic Roaming with Maxis. U mobile 2g domestic roaming is currently running on Celcom network since 2019. 3G RAN share was previously in collaboration with Maxis Communications since October 2011 but ended on 27 October 2018, due to U Mobile being awarded additional spectrum of 2x15MHz of 1800 MHz bands and 2x5MHz of 900 MHz bands in 2016. ... . Corporate History In April 2007, Ansat Broadcast Sdn. Bhd. signed the country's first nationwide domestic roaming memorandum of understanding, which led to an agreement with the mobile network operator Celcom Axiata Bhd allowing U Mobile's customers nationwide coverage while U Mobile rolled out its own high-speed mobile 3G service nationwide. The agreement was completed in June 2007. ... U", a data-only plan for mobile users provided using U Mobile's HSDPA-driven mobile network. The following month, it rolled out its first mobile service, the postpaid U38 plan. In July, U Mobile launched two new postpaid services, U68 and U98, and the 018 Prepaid service. .... In November 2012, U Mobile activated 3G RAN Sharing with Maxis and transitioned its 2G network provider from Celcom to Maxis. .... On 17 December 2013, U Mobile launched its LTE network on the 2600 MHz band that covers the Klang Valley. U Mobile has currently about 2 million subscribers at the end of 2014. ... . Note that 3G was fully sunset in Malaysia on 31 Dec 2021 = afaik, thereafter U Mobile only had its own 4G network (= has no 2G network), so U Mobile had to pay Celcom in 2019 to use their 2G network as backup for 2G phone calls, 999 emergency calls and SMS, as U Mobile's 3G cell towers were being shutdowned and refarmed for 4G, ... in case U Mobile's 4G network (is only VoLTE phone calls and IMS text messages) went down or required periodic maintenance. . QUOTE(JLA @ Jun 3 2025, 10:44 AM) .My phone does not display such detailed network operators as yours, eg no 2G network operators. But when I switch Network Mode from Auto 2G/3G/LTE to 2G, my phone shows Celcom 2G (on Postpaid U38 plan). . So, your phone is using YES 4G, digi 4G and 502158 2G, not Maxis 2G or Celcom 2G or U Mobile 2G, correct.? If so, whose is 502158 2G.? . Maybe recently U Mobile has started installing its own 2G cell towers = in future, no need to pay Celcom for 2G network access. . EDIT Update: QUOTE(axxer @ Sep 25 2022, 10:21 PM) What exactly is 502158? Suddenly can connect to it, status bar showed 502158-unifi but "normal" unifi/celcom tower will show just unifi. So weird need to broadcast a unique telco name with that tower/signal/band/whatever. QUOTE(luqman98x @ Sep 25 2022, 10:25 PM) QUOTE(axxer @ Sep 26 2022, 02:01 AM) So all telco; the main 4 and their mvno can all connect to this? Previously I've been using maxis and their signal here is terrible hence I've ported to unifi to connect celcom tower. Already saw the 502158 since last year when I'm using maxis and tunetalk but never can connect, manual refresh signal in setting showed 502158 as forbidden. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=105455443Edit: just tested, my umobile sim can't connect. Manual refresh signal showed 502158 as available and not forbidden, manual try to connect gives error. So weird this mocn thingy. = seems like the government Jendela program (funded by all the celcos) has setup 2G cell towers, esp in rural/remote areas, which all the celcos can connect to, eg 502158 2G = TM Unifi Mobile 2G, U Mobile 2G, Celcom 2G, Maxis 2G, etc. . U Mobile does not have a 2G licence. They rely on domestic roaming under Celcom when their own 4G network is not available. MNO's name (Celcom) can be overwritten as U Mobile depending on a few factors. This post has been edited by dgboy: Jun 3 2025, 05:57 PM lurkingaround liked this post

I plan to subscribe to Umobile U Home 5G.
Checking on the umobile 5g signal map, it show that my area is under 5g coverage. How's the signal now in the Klang area? As long as I can use it for online meetings/YouTube without lagging, it's good enough for me. |

QUOTE(vostro78 @ Jun 6 2025, 03:16 PM) I plan to subscribe to Umobile U Home 5G. Works well for me, better than Yes 5G home broadband... the YES was almost twice as slow as UM Home 5G. Now easily get 200mbps... any time of day. I took their 2 years plan with the router modem. Yes 5G was in a high end Qualcomm TP-Link modem but lagi slow than UM, so it is definitely YES 5G problem.Checking on the umobile 5g signal map, it show that my area is under 5g coverage. I used YES 5G in Klang Valley and Seremban, but service went to shit so I switched. UM 5G so far so good no complaints. vostro78 liked this post
