Now (= 1:50am), I can at least web-surf on 3G/H+ with my Android device, ie 4G still kaput for me.

I think 4G was working for my mobile hotspot because web-surfing was very smooth on my laptop.

Yes. At about 10pm last night, I could web-surf with my Linux laptop on 4G mobile hotspot but could not web-surf directly on 4G with my Android device. Weird eh.?

As long as U Mobile gives all of us the 1GB free data for this MCO period, whether it will show in the app or not, that's good enough already.

Has anyone of you experience poor call quality recently? I never had problems with UMobile connection at my house but lately I noticed a lot of my calls dropping/disconnecting.

It's even weirder when I get calls from Maxis line. The calls would go on for a few minutes then become garbled, a bit like fast forwarding an audio tape, and then the call gets disconnected. This happens almost all the time.

Could be affected by sudden surge of internet user during mco
Same as mine too, maxis data getting slower and reduce to 3G once in a while.

Woo.! ....... Looks like Maxis prepaid Hotlink has joined the cheapo unlimited bandwagon by offering RM35 and RM45 per month phone plan promos from 4 June 2020 onward.
....... Maybe UMobile will up its game by also giving unlimited free calls to prepaid GX30/38 subscribers.

So, looks like unlimited GX30/38/50/58 phone plan subscribers should be enjoying HD/720p video-streaming permanently, instead of being capped at 480p/SD. If so, thanks Maxis and thanks TM Unifi Mobile(= its unlimited RM59 promo).

PS - Note that Maxis new unlimited offers above do not give any free hotspot data = gotta buy as addons. It's FUP has yet to be revealed, ie at how many GB of data used per month, will throttling by Maxis occurs.? Is video-streaming also capped at SD/480p.?

TL;DR. Digi Infinite 150 is throttled to 10Mbps after reaching 1TB but can be reset at anytime.
Old news. Back to 1TB now, it was 300GB during MCO but not an issue because users can reset all the time. So technically not like other telcos which have to wait until bill recycles.

Yes, Celcom has just offered a new "unlimited" data Internet monthly pass to its existing prepaid subscribers. More importantly, what is its FUP limit, 50GB or 100GB per month.? This has been interesting developments in the affordable "unlimited" data segment, ie GX30 and Konfem30 vs the new kids on the block HUP35 and XPax35. Hopefully, UMobile GX30 will respond to the threat.

Celcom has just updated its website for its new XUP35 Internet monthly pass. No news on the FUP limit but the new plan is advertised as "Truly Unlimited Prepaid" = no FUP limit.?

GX58 does not comes with Video-Onz. So, all streaming is throttled at <3Mbps...

Yes, all UMobile 4G phone plans except unlimited Hero P139, caps video-streaming, presently at HD/720p/1.6Mbps and normally at SD/480p/1Mbps. You can find this in the TnC.

According to azhar75 , TAC via SMS does not work well in 4G for UMobile = use 3G/HSPA+ to receive TAC, ie iirc, need to switch on Airplane mode, switch from 4G to 3G, switch back off Airplane mode and switch back to 4G after received TAC.

If  restarting phone works to receive missing TAC, can also.

The only thing that me can justify that POST-paid is better than PRE-paid is "Itemized Bill" and "auto-debit for billing" ...

In terms of GX38 vs GX50, all aspects are dominated by PRE-paid GX38...just need to monitor the validity of PRE-paid plans that makes it "troublesome" a little bit... No point spending extra "RM5" when the GX38 is better in "all" aspects...

The advantage of taking postpaid is that your don't need to top up every 30 days (on time) but your line will stay active as long as your remember to pay your bill.
U Mobile has renew function, but renew pass does not extend validity. Therefore, you'll need to top up at the end of the valid-day in order to stay active for 30 days to use your passes as well.
That's the trouble of using prepaid to postpaid, especially for some elder parents whose aren't tech-savvy.

Top up RM100 = 100 days validity.
With RM10 left, it'll not auto renew at the 3rd, and it'll get more n more RM10 accumulated if I did your way.
Using UMI30 which comes with 7.5gb data + 30minutes free call to all network.
Luckily, U Mobile app doesn't required OTP for login.
