Sometimes it can happen for no reason, just pay attention to the other gerbils, if one day they seem to be losing weight or sleeping a lot then have to monitor closely.

but its so.... that can be happen in 1 hour...

maybe sudden change of temperature...i read an article bout heart attack that if sudden change of temperature also can cause the heart attack to errupt...hmm...btw animals are so like humans cause they are living things...so thats a possibiliy

Oh... Sleeping a lot also a problem ar? I find Coffee sleeps a lot.

Wakakakaka... I always poke him up when i see him sleeping there. He doesn't bother you much even you kacau him sleeping.

May be lor. I even bang the tank also he sleeps like a dead body not moving there. Then Bungee or Walnut step on him also tak perasan.

it is really scary la....hope this wont happen again...

Added on September 11, 2007, 5:07 amurgent urgent, i found out my clan's tank being attack by mites...
i not sure whether is mites or not, i all tiny tiny thing that crawl around the tank.
source from the mealworm that i keep.
how to handle it...

disinfect and clean the tank lo... better sieve your mealworms as well, sometimes their poo n all can attract ants or mites i think

nothing much can do, throw away bedding clean up check ur gerbils.

i now on doing this, about gerbils, how to check on them whether they got attack by mites.
yesterday i found my pied lilac tank affect the most serious, the thing crawl all around her tank, so i clean her tank in the middle of night, haha...
then other tank jus affect the lid only.
but then today check again still got, guess need to clean all the bedding and let the tank sun "basking"...
if my gerbs body really attack by mites, how to clean it, my pied lilac now is under sand bathing...

I'm not sure about how to get rid off the mites. MAY BE you can try wipe them with frontline then 30mins - 1hour later. Wipe them again with clean damp cloth. This might take longer time to get rid off all the mites coz can't leave the med on them too long as they groom themselves very frequently. Else may be wait for nezu's advice.

Edited: Sun your unused bedding as well coz scare the mites might living in it.

i just came back from pet safari...i saw some spray for small animals (dun remember what brand) 2 prevent mites and etc...around rm20++..can buy that one ah?? it said its harm less even we spray at pets...
