Honestly with my router, I doubt it can work well with 500Mbps as well but just that I want to get the best out of my account. So, it has to be 800Mbps even if I cannot maximize the speed now.

The price you mentioned, is it warranty by Asus SG or grey imported units from China as well?

I never thought so much at the beginning, but after heard what blacktubi said about the China sets which has lesser channels, I started to worry about those units that sold in SG.

Not sure why similar hardware, similar firmware, but China sets has lesser channels compare to MY sets~

I did lodge a complaint with MCMC, and someone from TM did call me, but I almost heart attack in the conversion, really can vomit blood. It's just too bad I don't have other better options here, else I would have ditched Unifi long ago. They're playing fire with consumers now, one day when we have real competition I hope they nose-dive and close shop
Your case worst, paying so much but still not Turbo-ed yet. Right choice here, pay half but twice the speed. Honestly 100mbps is enough already, but I still don't mind if we can get 300mbps for RM 139 just like Time customers, but guess we can dream first for now

Yeah I know, but the main thing I dislike about time is they need to pull in the cable into your apartment, not very nice aesthetically, even if you do trunking

Guys, need some opinion for these 2 router. Asus RT-AC86U and GT-AC5300.

Since my unifi is being turbo, I'm thinking of getting a new router to maximize the speed of it.

My usage aren't that great at the moment as I don't play games, no torrent. Just using my unifi with light stuffs like fb, youtube, video streaming, iptv and so on. The only thing is that there are roughly 10-15 devices will be connected to the router. And I hope  my next router wifi coverage will be able to cover as much area as possible for my house.

RT-AC86U : RM600+-, Dual Core 1.8GHz, 256MB Flash, 512MB RAM, Dual Band, 4 LAN Port

GT-AC5300 : RM1400+-, Quad Cord 1.8GHz, 256MB Flash, 1024MB RAM, Tri Band, 8 LAN Port

For extra RM800 for better process, more ram, extra 1 5GHz, extra 4 ports, I'm also interested to know the wifi coverage for both of these model, which one has better wifi coverage, and roughly by how many %?

I always have the impression that the higher the AC rating, the more antenna a router have, usually will have wider wifi coverage. Indeed 8 ports do seems like more future proof, even though my current C1200, I only use 2 out of 4 ports. 1 for router, another 1 for my tvbox. Later on might be getting a used STB since my unifi comes with the Ultimate pack.

Hopefully someone who is using the GT-AC5300 can give some brief user experience as I read some online review, some say it is buggy...
