Why 2.4Ghz not able to exceed max speed of my TIME paxkage 500mbps but only less than 100mbps. While 5Ghz can max up to 500mb. I am using AX5400 router

Hi sifus,
need help or any solution on this, technician has came for the third time and issue hasn't been resolved.
I subscribed to celcom 500mbps, when I stand near to wifi 6 router I managed to get around 500+mbps. However, when I turn on my mesh wifi, I'm only getting around 300mbps downstairs and only 150-200mbps upstairs. I have tried to turn off the router 6 WiFi and just focus on mesh wifi to prevent any signal interference but still the same result. Is mesh wifi able to maintain the speed of 500mbps?

router - tplink ax3000
mesh wifi-deco x20

Are 5GHz channel specifically channel 36-52 and 149-165 crowded? Your router had the capability of using DFS channel which could avoid crowded 5GHz channel but Deco X20 likely can't use DFS channel.

Deco series by default will only use 36-48 channel only. Is locked by firmware because of 'genius' management at Deco division think so to stick with only such channel without giving permission to end user to change

First of all, Samsung S21 Ultra support WiFi 6E, i.e., it supports WiFi channel bandwidth up to 160Mhz.
iPhone 13 Pro max support WiFi 6 only and it supports WiFi channel bandwidth up to 80Mhz only.
Intel AX201 laptop supports WiFi channel bandwidth up to 160Mhz.

Due to you hard coded channel bandwidth to 160Mhz in AX90, iPhone couldn't take advantage of 160Mhz channel bandwidth. Therefore, iphone shows lowest speed test result.
Thus, only devices that have support for 160Mz channel bandwidth able to fully utilize the benefit of WiFi 6 router with 5Ghhz 160Mz channel bandwidth.

It may maintain speed of 500mbps if all are located within closed proximity (For example, in same room?)

In your case, no. Mesh wifi not able to maintain speed of 500mbps.

Mesh with ethernet backhaul (connect ethernet cable from one unit to the other) since the house is just next door.

does mesh with ethernet backhaul technically make it non-mesh?

AX is definitely overkill, for 30mbps AC is more than enough. Back then when I just upgraded 5mbps to 30mbps Unifi (VDSL2 copper line), I keep getting disconnections and turn out the line attenuation in my building is quite bad (not something I can control). TM eventually said they fixed it somehow but later still keep dropping connections. I changed my router to a TP-Link C6 (AC1200 speed) and it's all good ever since.
*
certainly more than enough. my wifi 5 (AC) can get full speed for 300Mbps. technically it can support 'close' to 500Mbps plan.

Is this normal?

The loaded latency is at 358ms! That 20X the unloaded latency.

In term of user experience, you can feel the internet speed is not stable.
*
if playing mobile game, certainly will experience lag... tongue.gif

i managed to reduce my child node (mesh) loaded latency to 50ms+-...
now playing my usual mobile game, it is a day and nite difference in terms of stability.
previously, sometime, i can even get disconnected from the server suddenly and latency in the game showed above 1000ms++...

So I've got a weird situation, just installed TP-link wifi mesh in my home. First few days of using it, my pc got a speed boost, speed test reaching 85 mbps, I can even go to certain websites without using VPN. But since yesterday the speed now went down to my regular 35-45 mbps and I got blocked from those certain websites again. Anybody can help explain what happened?

my experience with my linksys mesh wifi is that the location between the parent and child nodes is very very sensitive. even i placed the device less than 1cm aparts from the location, the speed and latency can make a day and nite difference. i tried for very long before i can find a spot that can give me consistent speed and latency...

Regardless brand, the direct and indirect signal which is out of phase can either amplify or negate each other. That is what you see

Still mesh since all WiFi APs are interconnected to form a network.

Most likely cut down by the wall. Cross check your mesh if able to support >300mbps.

Else might need to consider to add another mesh upstairs to support.
