Link boost refers to using both Wifi & 4G. There's another version using both 5GHz & 2.4GHz Wifi.

Now that I just checked with TM point it turns out that 500mbps is actually the subscribed package. The speed we usually been having were around 30~110mbps download speed depending on the 2.4G or 5G channel was used. I just called 100 just now and was told that the 2.4G channel caps at around 100mbps while 5G caps at around 200mbps. So this leads to me confusing right now and started checking to this subject...
Yeah, I think they give that standard response of 5G caps at 200mbps cause that's what their router max speed allows them to.

However, I purchase some more expensive routers (tried 3 routers) and my speed at best is 250mbps, so I'm not sure how some people are able to get 500-600mbps wifi speed?

It depends on device as well.

Hi, this is the first time I'm troubleshooting with these technical subject. I have just recently found out that my family has been subscribing a much higher speed package while receiving much less speed in actual reality. A bigger part of the reason this issue was left alone for long time was due to miscommunication as they only knew that they have upgraded the package but can not remember which one is it now and I always thought the speed was only a little lesser that what it should be.

Now that I just checked with TM point it turns out that 500mbps is actually the subscribed package. The router we are using right now is a router that was just resubscribed from TM around 1~2 years ago (not sure model name). In order to achieve higher speed, do I need to changed to another router model? also why are they giving us a model that cant achieve the speed of what they should be giving...? sad.gif

Just saw your message, and yes, you will need to change router. To learn more, read ALL the green text in the link of my signature, and the reason why they give you that model is because they only support and guarantee that you will get the speed on wired connections, NOT WiFi.

Hmm, I don't think my devices are the issue though, iPhone XS, 11in iPad Pro and a few other 802.11ac devices kept giving me 200-250mbps only on WiFi.

It's not one thing or the other but more of a combo like dating or marriage.
For myself, iPhone X + Mikrotik hAP AC = 250Mbps.
iPhone X + DLink DIR-882 = 550Mbps.
MacBook Pro on the other hand loves both the APs.

Hmmm, it's an Asus, I tend to avoid them. The brand name doesn't really mean anything.

I recently bought an Asus Blue Cave 2600, thinking it will be an upgrade of my Asus RT-AC68. On 5GHz band, I could get 300Mbps download with my AC68, but on BlueCave I only got 111Mbps.

I’m currently subscribing to 800Mbps package.

I’m using IPhone 7Plus to test.. I expect my WiFi speed to reach at least 400Mbps as IPhone 7Plus top speed is 450Mbps..

Anyone have similar experience? I thought I would be getting an upgrade, but looks like it’s downgraded.

Based on this review,
https://www.tomsguide.com/us/asus-blue-cave...eview-6235.html

The speed can definitely be faster than what you got.
Probably need to tweak the settings or something?
Or you can try doing the speed test further from the router as the review says it is better at long range

1. Set the Wireless Mode to N/AC mixed
2. Set the Channel bandwidth to run at 80MHz

Just upgraded my router to Asus AX11000 and I received max download speed of 500mbps on a 800mbps Unifi package with Asus USB-AC68. Wondering if I upgrade the wifi receiver to Asus PCE-AX58BT (AX3000), will I get wifi speed of 800mbps?

Thanks in advance.

What wireless speed you get when you set the 5GHz channel bandwidth to 80MHz / 160MHz?
(Wireless speed, not Speedtest result, refer to the screenshot below)

Not sure if the USB-AC68 supports 160MHz, you will have to test it on your own

Important Note:
160MHz requires DFS scanning which your devices might not be able to connect for a few minutes after you've applied it. And some older devices won't support 160MHz too
GT-AX11000 is tri-band so you can set the 1st 5GHz to 80MHz and the other 5GHz to 160MHz

TM's responsibility is up to the speed you're getting on Ethernet cable
For wireless, you have to figure out on your own

And yes, TM provides crappy router. You want something better, buy your own
In the meantime, you can change the 5GHz settings inside the TM provided router to 80MHz instead of 20/40/80MHz/Auto

Also, you shouldn't rely on 2.4GHz, no matter what router you use, you won't get anything higher than 100Mb/s on 2.4GHz
You'll be lucky if you even manage to get 100Mb/s on 2.4GHz as most devices is only limited to 72Mb/s / 150Mb/s on 2.4GHz

Asus USB-AC68 does not support 160MHz and the setting on the router were left as auto.

As for the wireless speed, I need to recheck again tonight.

Change to 80MHz then test again & check the wireless speed as well after you change to 80MHz

Noted but I doubt Asus USB-AC68 can achieve 800mbps. Hence, the question of whether Asus PCE-AX58BT (AX3000) can hit 800mbps.

Thank you again. notworthy.gif
