Hi, how much you can afford? Below how much?

Thanks.

Yes, you can.
Just change the IP Address, disable DHCP and connect to LAN Port 1.

Wi-Fi Repeater is a different thing. For example, you wanna extend coverage via Wireless.
That is called as an AP. AP is known as Access Point.
You can extend via LAN only.

Thanks.

Hi. You may get a cheap extender as you're using 10Mbps.

State your budget so that I can recommend you.
How big is it?

Thanks.

If budget is tight then just keep the router until you can get something better.

Yes. Just reset the D-Link.
Don't setup anything.

Just connect to LAN Port 1 on the D-Link Router.
Disable the DHCP.
I tried using my ADSL as access point can work.

Thanks.

On WiFi you need to get an expensive adapter and expensive router. If further away, it will reduce the speed.
Using laptop or Desktop?

On LAN can achieve if you have Gigabit LAN Port and at least CAT 5E, 6 and 7 cable.

I am using TIME - 500MBps package but using the older supplied D-Link 850 router. My internet seems to cut off intermittently and also can't get a good signal in the house. Speedtest max around 30-50Mbps only.

The TIME guy is coming Wednesday. What should I do? I am thinking of getting TIME to give me the new D-LInk 882 router? How is this router? I live in a condo that's 2000 sq ft. TIME CS keeps saying my place is big (which it is not) and I am sick of going back and forth with them. They are also asking me to buy a Wi-Fi Booster for RM552, which I think is unnecessary and a rip-off.

Appreciate your guidance.

Hi, did you order from TIME?

The D-Link DIR-882L also good but the firmware is a modified TIME Firmware which means that you cannot upgrade via D-Link MY Support Site.

What's your budget and your receiving devices specifications?

Thanks.

Using Mesh Router will be more better than Homeplug.
Using Homeplug will reduce your speed by half.

There is no good homeplug.
Homeplug not so stable.
My suggestion is to get Mesh Router.

Thanks.

I tried to use homeplug before, however fails miserably as my house on 3 phase and got so many extension here and there.

Try to use my old D850 (V1- not supplied by TM) as AP combined with TPLink1200. But got stability issues (TPLink) and security concern (D850).

Recommended to use bluecave, but out of budget. After reading some reviews (and I don't like antennas), really want to go for mesh solutions, tplink deco, but found out that no support for hypptv. So that's also out of picture.

Found another mesh solution, Nova MW6, which claims to support unifi fully including hypptv. As this is also the cheapest Mesh option, I take the plunge and got the 3 box solution. Now:

The Good
1) No more 'deadspot' in the house (3-storey). Also in the gardens etc. Full bar all the way, concrete wall or not. Battery life of devices improved considerably.
2) Everything seems to faster on the web,... opening pages, streaming, downloads etc.
3) Bloody easy to set-up for basic use. Just plug in everything, and the app is so easy to use.

The Not-so Good
1) Disconnection of streaming services (radio mostly), not frequent but happens on the good songs.
2) No documentation for hypptv. I found out that you need to switch on iptv in the app then just plug in the ethernet cable. Hypptv just works.
3) Speedtest only shows 100++MBps although the download seems to faster.
4) No advanced features (on the setting app). There is no web-setup either. So to advance users who require special setting etc, then this boxes are not recommended.

No 3 make me worried, although as of now I frequently have 4-5 devices streaming from different channel, with different resolutions and sources, satisfactorily. Apart from some disconnection (1), may be once every 3-4 hours the rest is ok.

Really want to go with mesh

Hi. Are you using Hypptv?

I would recommend you Asus Lyra.

Thanks.

AC2200 or AC1750 (Trio Mesh)?

The Deco Mesh products (M5, M9) from TP-Link may have hypptv problems, I hear.

TQ
