I would suggest push the budget a little bit and get the TP-Link Archer AX20. I had been using this for quite while with around 10 connected device at 100Mbps.
*
The AX20 is a great choice, however I am not incline to overkill with the router selection since my place is just a small home with small family.
I would give it a go if I were to have more devices using the WiFi.

Are there other options?
Priority on stability (24x7) and after sales (in case anything went south). Thank you

Hi sifus,

Noob here needing ur advices

House type: Townhouse 1.7k sqft 1 and half storey (will move in next month)
Features required: Range and stability
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 10 devices (3 phones, 3 laptops, TV & smart switches)
Internet Speed: Unifi 100mbps contract already ended(working and movies)
Budget: Below 400 if possible, can stretch more for better performance
Current using - archer c1200 with the silver modem from unifi

Any recommendation? Should i get ax20 plus mesh wifi, or ax73? But the location of the modem won’t be at the centre of the house (wiring by developer)

Thanks.

Check if the developer wired Ethernet ports around the house.

Could've saved you a ton of money if there's Ethernet ports around then you can use a more affordable solution.

Anyone using the new budget Tenda TX3 WiFi 6 Router have any comments about it?

Seems it shares the same Broadcom Quad Core 1.5GHz BCM 6755 chipset as the TP-Link AX20 and Asus AX56U.

Price is sub RM200 for a quad core CPU router.

Newer model among the rest and came out first quarter this year.

Good day to all sifus,

Thank you for your recommendation first smile.gif

I am currently using the equipment provided by Unifi.

My phone is able to connect to the WiFi with a moderate signal at the furthest room, however the connection using my laptop will be disconnected occasionally / the laptop couldn't even detect the WiFi.

House type: Apartment
Size of house: 800 square feet
Features required: Coverage
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 10
Internet Speed:500 mbps
Budget: RM 500

TP-link AX10 should be enough for your situation. Save some money. Or you may check on AX73 which is more powerful than AX10.

I provide suggestion based on assumption that you might be looking for router that you could utilize the full 300Mbps even from quite a distance from it.

Other option you could consider is the Mercusys MR70X. I wouldn't recommend getting router that aren't WiFi-6 compatible.

Can recommend a reliable router that able to switch on for 24/7 please?

Currently running TP-Link C1200 which came default by TM.
It overheat easily and we are not enjoying the experience.

Requirement as below:
House type: Condo
Size of house: 1000 sqft
Features required: Stability
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 8
Internet Speed: 300mbps
Budget: RM200

Thank you for the suggestion
*
Budget too low for a better one
Move the router to open space
Try changing different channel on the WiFi
Update router firmware
Do not stack the router on top of other devices

Better option would be Asus RT-AC68U

Bought this Tenda tx3 last week, cannot comment on WiFi 6 because the devices at my home are WiFi 5 and WiFi 4 for smart IOT.
Using wifi signal analyser app, 5Ghz signal comparison with 5 years old Asus rt-ac1200g+, signal wise -3 to -5 bdm weaker compared to Asus router after 2 wall. Both routers are separated by 2 metre apart.
In free space the reading of both routers are nearly equal.
Firmware quality, Asus is much superior with lots of settings and better UI.
Tenda firmware is basic just enough to operate for home users.
Negatives are, parental control not stable sometimes will not work; and guest WiFi only 1 network with 2.4 and 5 GHz while Asus router gives 3 network.
IPv6 cannot be manually changed only default to ISP IPv6.
I am going to change back to Asus router as main router later. The Tenda is going to be an AP. Kinda disappointed with the Tenda firmware but you get what you paid for.

Can't complain as the Asus RT-AC56U which uses the same quad core Broadcom CPU as it costs at least close to 2X its price. Another complain is that it only has 3 GE ports compared to competition.

For those considering the Mercusys MR70X, you might want to consider this as it is only like RM30 more and double the number of CPU cores with much more added functions and future needs.
Easily it's comparable to TP-Link's AX20 and Asus RT-AC55/56U which costs RM50 more or double.

All other routers around its price range such as D-Link EXO Mesh DIR-X1560 Smart AX1500 or the Totolink X5000R routers(more expensive) all have only dual core CPUs.

Tenda actually designed this router to fit very well if you're transitioning from Maxis Home Fibre Internet to this 3rd party router. You can easily clone all your settings in your Maxis supplied router into this modem in 8 secs and then hook it up to your fibre modem and start using immediately.

TP-Link AX10 or Mercusys MR70X you might want to add just another RM30 and future proof your router purchase with the Tenda TX3.

All are just under RM200 budget.

Will target for WiFi6 router. Preparing this for 9.9 purchase laugh.gif

Many thanks for the suggestion.

Asus RT-AC68U is abit overkill for my small setup.
If I happen to move to a bigger place / more devices, will consider this model, thank you for the recommendation.

Let me give you an alternate choice

Archer C80 from TP-Link

It's better than budget WiFi 6 routers out there and more than enough for 300Mbps

Sub RM200 WiFi 6 routers you have 4 choices:

D-Link EXO Mesh DIR-X1560 AX1500 router
Mercusys MR70X
Tenda TX3
TP-Link AX10

Out of the four, the Tenda TX3 is the only one with quad-core CPU.

Read the review from blacktubi, the rating for C80 is on the higher side.
However, would like to obtain WiFi 6 router to perform some test and experiment. tongue.gif
For the price, would get AX20 instead.

Not into D-link and Tenda brand as of now.
Nevertheless, I had watched the Tenda video and it is interesting, but will reserve for future.
For the remaining two, we've got the answer. smile.gif
Many thanks for the recommendation.

1000sqft should be no problem at all for those WiFi 6 routers. They're very recent models with the Tenda being the newest launched just April this year with quad-core CPU.

They can easily handle upto 800Mbps Unifi/Maxis/Time lines.

Sub RM200 it won't break your pocket.

Hello,

The condo i stay is 950sqft, typical 3 rooms 2 baths type.

Router placed at living room, next to TV

Already replaced the default router to XiaoMi AX-3600, performance was quite bad, master bedroom and 2nd bed room can't get signal at all when the door is shut.

I had Asus AC-86U in another double storey house, this router is amazing and full bar even for upstairs room with door fully closed.

Is there any cheaper modem on par or even better than AC-86U?

I tried to look at the successor AX-86U, but very pricey

Thanks.
