I have been read lots of review from blacktubi and like the ways of presentation of each device. Finally can ask some questions on this thread after found out TS actually is blacktubi

Very long time looking forward to fibre connection, finally saw dp box installed at my opposite house pole and i decided to take some survey from here, since so many experts in lyn biggrin.gif

Package: Plan to take Unifi 300Mbps (2 ipad, 5 smartphone, 2 laptops, 1 desktop, and might add tv box and wireless cctv in future)

As what i know from here, TM sure provide the all-in-one modem+router, which lousy. My house is just single terrace house which about 22x70

1. Should i change to ax router for future proof, or stay in ac router since i don't have much ax device?
2. As i plan to install the fibre at living room which located at front side of house, is it need to expand the wifi coverage thru deco series/aimesh? Or just buy good router which can cover 1500ft of single terrace house?
3. Or use TP-Link Easy Smart Switch + another wifi router?

TP Link A9, TP-Link AX10, TP Link Deco M5, Asus-RT-AC66U, Asus AX56U ---> Which one is better in overall aspect and worth to buy now?

Sorry for so many questions tongue.gif

Thanks for any reply in advance

House type: landed single terrace
Size of house: roughly 1500ft

Number of devices connected to WiFi: min 5~15
Internet Speed: 300Mbps unifi (still in application)

current: none

Objective: Want to utilize the wifi network for whole premise, as plan to install wireless camera and tv box in the future

Budget: RM200~RM500

I got some options in my mind, but i need some professional advice as i'm not strong in networking field.
1. Tp Link AX10 vs Asus RT-AX56U. Which one is better in overall? Plan to replace the original router with either one.
2. Tp link M5 to cover whole premise. But just 1500ft single terrace really need mesh network?
3. Get a easy smart switch and pair with other brands of router. Easy to setup? hmm.gif

I would like to recommend you get ASUS XT8
ASUS XT8
You can connect old ASUS Router AiMesh to this if you got one.
You can either get Deco M5 Two Packs or AC68U or AX56U.
*
No offense but AC68U is quite old model already. Is it still competitive in current environment?
Anyhow, using mesh in 1500ft single terrace will cause wifi over-looping can affect the signal?
May i know why you choose AX56U instead of AX10 since both units are AX and AX10 has 2 more antenna than AX56U?

My unifi account was created today and i changed the netis router to Asus AX56U immediately after TM configured and confirmed the speed is up to 300Mbps

I followed the configuration guide from blacktubi Asus Unifi, except the unifi plus box won't active when connected to lan4. It worked well under AX56U lan3. But i have a weird problem which AX56U will has red light on Internet LED. It happened a few times but it will turn back to normal after a while. Does anyone encounter this issue and got solution?

Change your profile to Unifi-Business then LAN 4 will function as normal then Unifi Plus box will work.

If your Internet is fine when the light is red, it is probably a false alarm or bug with ASUSWRT.

Thanks for fast reply. If i still maintains unifi home, does it affect anything?

And when the Internet light turned into red, Internet is down as i saw the wifi got exclamation mark. After a few times red light, I already updated AX56U to the latest firmware manually. Hope won't have this kinds of issue. Is it related to network cable or faulty router?

Well this issue happened twice in this morning. First i was wondered why the page was not moving. Then i checked my router and found out the intenet light became red but all 3 lights were blinking on ONU. After that, i chatted with unifi cs after the internet connection is back. Internet light became red again when i was describing the issue to unifi cs. End up she suggested to create a report but she highlighted will charge RM53 if problems not from TM.

Anyone got idea on this kind of problem?

Hi, did you using ax56u right ? may i ask did you faced any issues on this router ? and did you changed to unifi-business profile yet to used all 4 lan port ? im also wondering about this. Thank you sir.
*
The internet light will become red suddenly, and need to wait few minutes to restore back the connection. And i checked its log file and found out it had been like kinds of "reset" which log has been cleared off. btw, I had upgraded to latest firmware and changed another cat6 cable but also the same. But this issue won't happen always, once a few days. As the result, I just ignored it.

And these 4 lan ports can be used after changed to unifi-business. Don't worry biggrin.gif

House type: Landed
Size of house: Small office < 1000 sq ft
Features required: Use for 4g now, cannot stand streamyx, not sure if should consider futureproofing for fibre if TM decides to route the fibre cable to my area
Number of devices connected to WiFi: <20
Internet Speed: Digi unlimited 150 or Unifi Air (Approx 100Mbps? Unifi might be capped at 20Mbps)
Budget: RM500, but if require will go higher.

Considering
Huawei B618
Asus RT AX56U

Still educating myself about network bands and 4g+...Not sure if RTAX56U can support 4g+ speeds.
*
U mean you want to insert USB 4g adapter into AX-56U to get 4g?

Yes. I check in asus specification in their website it does say 3g/4g support, not sure if I misinterpreted.

The problem is that 40 Mhz on 2.4 Ghz causes significant interference due to overlapping channels with neighbours' wifi signals

This I know, as my idiot neighbour is on 40 Mhz. It's not about class, it's about being mindful. I can easily interfere with lots of other neighbours' signals if I configure my 3 router mesh to 40 Mhz / stick on 2 more AP routers onto the network, but this would be really selfish

How much more speed are you actually getting on 40 Mhz at the expense of range / stability on 2.4 Ghz?
*
Hmmm I tested before using unifi 300Mbps and there is a difference around 20Mbps increase after configured 40MHz of 2.4GHz

Hi guys,

I’m in a very confused state of mind. I have already made my mind to purchase Asus rt-ax56u until this sudden TP-Link ax73 comes up.

Need your guys suggestion/advice on this matter.

Shall I proceed with Asus rt-ax56u or go for Tplink ax73?

Thanks..

I owned AX56U also tempted to buy AX73 biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Still trying to digest all these as I'm very weak on all these networking, will definitely read more to understand deeper.

My current setup:-
1st Floor - TP-Link AC5400 router, using 1 ethernet port go into the wall
G Floor - Powerline, 1 unit connected to the wall (which connects to the router on 1st Floor) and another Powerline further apart to extend the signal
2nd Floor - currently no powerline, weak wifi signal (2 bar), so I also have concern the AX73 signal will be weaker than my existing AC5400

Not sure if I can maintain my setup with the AX73 (replacing AC5400), and then create a mesh network (with RE505X when it arrives) to boost signal to 2nd floor. Sound weird to me, where 1st and 2nd floor will be on mesh network while ground floor is on the homeplug setup.

Worst case, maybe for short term, just buy a cheaper range extender (not mesh) for 2nd floor.
*
As I read from your post, you have one AC5400 and going to have another AX73, right? Then why not using AC5400 to connect with AX73 using AP method, so can save some money. If money is not an issue, then just continue your initial plan smile.gif

Think my AC5400 dying soon, that's the reason I'm changing it. Very frequent it kept auto restart and sometimes just can't get stable wifi lights on for hours. Still troubleshooting it, of course if manage to solve/repair then can use it as suggested, so can save $$

Currently trying to avoid pulling LAN cable, very messy with all the hackings or wire dangling.
2nd floor unable to use Powerline due to having different phase electrical from 1st floor and G floor

For now, will wait for AX73 arrive first, see how strong is the signal (if 2nd floor able to have a good connection) and at the same time continue troubleshoot the AC5400.

Thanks for your suggestion.
*
Maybe you can do factory reset your AC5400 after you got your AX73 working. I think still can use wireless AP mode if its firmware is allowed to do so. Hacking wall should be the last resort unless you need very stable connection and low ping.

You might need to use mesh system, or stronger router

Good day to all sifus,

Thank you for your recommendation first smile.gif

I am currently using the equipment provided by Unifi.

My phone is able to connect to the WiFi with a moderate signal at the furthest room, however the connection using my laptop will be disconnected occasionally / the laptop couldn't even detect the WiFi.

House type: Apartment
Size of house: 800 square feet
Features required: Coverage
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 10
Internet Speed:500 mbps
Budget: RM 500

TP-link AX10 should be enough for your situation. Save some money. Or you may check on AX73 which is more powerful than AX10.

Hi sifu²

Planning to get fibre from
1. Digi
2. Maxis
3. Celcom
4. Unifi

Which have the best router between this four? Digi & Maxis say their wifi 6. Not so sure about Celcom & Unifi.
*
I just subscribed 4x unifi business packages and all I get is Dlink DIR-830M which I don't think it's able to cope with my business structure. Can't find this model is wifi 5 or 6 dry.gif

hi folks,
since this thread more about home networking, I do need some sifu advise for my home current setup.
user posted image

My Unifi is 500mbps, and about 6-8 devices connect to Wifi.
current painpoint is that mobile devices on ground & 2nd floor [priority] has full signal strength but most of the time when streaming youtube/FB, needs buffer, and sometimes in the end not running in the end got fed up using mobile data instead.

Hardware side:
1. Can I change the Switch to Wireless Router will solve the issue?

Configuration side:
1. Without changing any hardware, is it able to resolve by performing some configuration?
*
For priories 2nd floor and cost-saving, yes with just replace switch with wireless router. But for long term, it's suggested to upgrade to mesh system (3 nodes). Perhaps 3 units m5 are enough since you have a dedicated network cable connect to 2nd floor, and a wireless connection to the ground floor which less priority.
