Thanks for the advice guys, but I have consulted one orthodontic in PJ. He told me the braces wouldn't help with my "not symmetrical jaw" problem & he asked me to go for a jaw surgery. I wanted to clarify if that was true, because I'm not that keen in getting a surgery sad.gif

Seek for another experienced orthodontic ..if both said the same solution, then i believe you know what should do next.. smile.gif

Hmm he said braces will prevent my joints from being painful in future and it will slightly correct the jaw.
In years to come, it will look better. He didn't exactly suggested a jaw surgery, but last time I thought of getting one.
I'm a bit afraid of it. Anyone has experience ? smile.gif

↲If talking braces, no need to worry. smile.gif you see, we all wear it and happy with the improvement outcome day to day.

I hate the blocker sad.gif its so annoying !! and how long can it last yea ?
ahha yes ! at night, middle of the night, suddenly it was so painful.
is yours the 4.5k or 6k one ya ?
*
No worry, keep think it on possitively.. Soon it will over when your teeth moved. Some of us already passed through the period. Pain always is good for braces, as the teeth start moving.. Cheers..

I don't know why mine is not painful. Give me the feeling that it is not effective.  sad.gif

Mine is the 6k one.
*
Den, for Damon system that I used, it have no feel for first 2 days. On 3rd day, I only feel the pain in gradually for near to week. This is normal, as the 1st wire is still very thin.. soon, it will change to thicker and thicker, whenever it change or re-position, you will feel the pain for few day.

It simply blocks the upper and lower teeth from touching one another. Cause one of my teeth is out of alignment, so if he doesnt put that blocker, the metal part of the my upper braces will be like destroyed by my lower teeth.
You should be happy you don't need it ! sad.gif

Last time, I just place vege & fish then blend with porridge by using blender. Don't blend too much, just few sec will do..smile.gif

QUOTE(mrchildren @ Mar 31 2010, 10:21 PM)
I just had all my 4 teeth extracted. I've been wearing inovation c braces since june last year. The doctor tried to salvage my teeth by putting on braces first and observed if they aligned properly, but unfortunately my jaw is still not spacious enough to accommodate all the teeth, therefore extraction took place. But as what kentcp said, since i'm already wearing braces, the gaps can close easier than without one. Moreover, i've been given some tiny rubberbands called the "parrot" to pull my teeth from the back to that next to the extracted space. The doc mentioned that the gaps will close quicker with the help of the elastic strings. Oh btw, is anyone of you using the parrot rubberband? How often do i need to change i wonder? it's hardgoing to put on at four sides though.. i hope i don't need powerchain at the moment.. or do i need them later?
*
I used the parrot before and replace it every day.

Hey green_apple,
I went to Pestige & that dentist charges me Rm 5000+ for metal braces. This is only for getting the braces done. This charges exclude the monthly check ups & etc.

Few blocks away theres a clinic on the ground floor.Penang dental surgery i guess. Visited Dr.Lim as a walk in patient.very understanding Dr. Charged Rm 3000 for metal braces. This includes the montly check ups as well. Paid RM 7 for the tooth brush.

First payment Rm1000. Then pay Rm100 for the next 24 months..just nice...
*
RM5000+ for metal braces (i assume is tranditional type?) is way too expensive..over kill..

Recently, during the conversation with Dr. How, he is recommend Patient to use Lotus Self-Ligating Bracket System, instead of Damon Q (Latest version)

Reason:
1) Lotus prices is almost same as Damon 3. (Damon Q is more expensive than Damon 3 around RM1k)

2) Lotus have New Low Profile Design, similar to Damon Q (According to Dr. How, Lotus release the design before Damon Q. In this case, Damon is copy the idea of Lotus)

3) Lotus bracket's lock is much more easy to open and close.

4) Damon system is excellent, especially for serious case patient. Hence, the changes/improvement is fast and noticeable on begining. However, slightly difficult to adjust it during finishing phase.
For non-serious case, Dr. How recommend Lotus system, as it's overall good and easy for finishing.

That's what I understand from him. smile.gif Hope help for those looking for braces system.

Below is the link that i found from Net.

Lotus Braces system

ic... i also have gap in front, between upper and lower teeth. Actually, are the upper and lower teeth supposed to meet each other without any gap at all? Or upper teeth are supposed to cover lower teeth a bit? I'm not really sure what's the ideal case...
*
The Upper teeth should cover the Lower teeth a bit when full close on your mouth.

Since my condition is serious case (according to Dr. How, mine is class 2 if not mistaken), so, I can't expect 100% perfect similar to normal people...

What I means on gap is when i use front teeth to bite, one of side gap is bigger than another side a lot.. that's why need some adjust..

Forget about the second dentist... I suspect he is just normal dentist, not a certified orthodontists. Secondly, not every orthodontists can use Damon system. They need to perform training and get the certification by damon company.

I believe the dentist don't have Damon system at his klinik, so, he just hard sell his traditional braces.

If you want to be confident, you may try to get advice Dr. How@Bangsar ? You can rest assure for his knowledge and skill. smile.gif

Fyi, our upper & lower teeth should not touch each other when close our mouth. The lower teeth will "hide" a bit at the back of upper teeth.
To make the result good, normally we wear the braces on upper and lower teeth, so that it can adjust accordingly.

If family can't affort, then wait till you are working and earn the money to place the braces. Don't over push your parent ya.. There are a lot working adult here, I am the one too.. My family is poor.. so, I have to earn money myself to make my dream come true.. No worry ya..

barium if you consult Dr How, he will ask you to do an x-ray first, so he can fully understand your condition. He charges RM80 for each x-ray & it comes up to a sum of RM240 smile.gif

Shenay is correct.. However, if you decide to perform treatment at his klinik, he will waive the consultantion fee. so, to save $, wait till you decide to place the braces then only visit him. smile.gif Unless you willing to spend few hundred ringgit for nothing.(after 2 years, your teeth may moved, need to take x-ray again)
