Isnt normal that our upper one cover abit over the lower one??

normal one shud touch each other one ah?

erm.. some ppl lower teeth cover the upper teeth, that is called under bite.. for upper teeth covering lower teeth, it's called overbite..  but then for my case my upper teeth is way too front lor.. so resulting deep bite, whereby my lower teeth can't even touch the upper teeth.. only touch the, erm what u call that ar? Jaw ar?    luckily my mouth is quite small, so not really obvious.. hehe.. but then quite serious leh my case.. 
maybe kent can explain better.. haha.. i better stop confusing ppl d

Would like to ask for every1's experience here. Every time after installing braces or appointment, will feel pain right? The pain occurs only when try to bite something? Each time will pain for how long ar? I feel pain for 1 week already. Is this normal? I can bite soft food like... kuey teow soup... Does this mean tat I can only bite soft food for the rest of 18-24 months? Can I eat like normal (rice, meat) in this period of time?

Experience sharing from you guys here are really appreciated.

i've eaten lots of soft food like ice-cream, cakes, tong shui, durian... in the past 1 week. Guess my diet plan is going to fail

Btw, if i force myself to eat hard food, or eat a lot of thing, will it slow down the progress, or will make it faster? anyone has idea about this?

did u all put 'seperator' or is it called spacer before putting on braces? how is that thing feels? thnx

i was browsing through older posts on this thread and i notice nikki mentioned about having shake as her meal..   is the shake own made? what u use to make it ? all fruits ar? and i think kent or somebody else mentioned about blending the food, fish.. when eat that time, dun feel geli meh? 

erm.. i saw that article in guang ming newspaper too.. but i cant understand a thing coz i am a banana lol.. my parents were the one bought the newspaper.. but i saw a picture which has a screw in it. maybe that is kent's picture?

my mum is also being negative all the time!! grr... but i just ignore her ..haha..  i think i may need the shake too coz i am living away from home as now still studying in college and life is kinda hectic  

about spacer, meaning it only cause discomfort, no pain?

nervous nervous... gonna install braces next two days...

The thing is ... my gums bleed [B]everyday....every corner of my teeth and its flowing like nobodiz business. I went back and asked him he said i need to do scaling but didnt provide me the full reasons and how i should take care to prevent. =(( i really need help...i dont wanna gross u out with pictures but i am suffering. huh?! will bleed 1 ar? does any of u know the cause for bleeding? so far, after having braces on for 2 weeks, i haven't seen any sign of bleeding yet. touch wood! hopefully won't bleed...

It's my 6th week of wearing damon 3 now. My teeth is considered over crowded and doctor informed me it is not necessary to extract any tooth. I do not notice any changes yet. Is it normal? I didn't feel pain at all since day 1. Is that why the teeth is not moving cos not tight enuff? My next appointment is next week. I feel frustrated for not seeing anything changed after 6 weeks. 

My main concern when i was considering whether to do braces or not was extraction of healthy teeth. The reason I chose Damon system is because it doesn't require extraction for my case. My mom says if i extract my healthy teeth, I'll regret during my old age when I don't have enough teeth to chew...

I keep all my teeth extracted since small...

Nikki, I realized tht my upper wire is kinda loose, which I can slightly push the wire frm one end to the another... then when i touch the wire between the gap of my teeth, the wire is also like moving also... Why is it happen ah? Any advise frm anyone here?

is the damon system less obvious than the traditional braces?

do you think i can switch from conventional braces to damon system?

Accidentally removed a few? Wow...dont so ganas la... hehehe Anyway, yes putting the powerchain is painful cos doctor has to ring the brackets with the chain. That includes pressing and all. I tear also when doctor did that. But what to do. Powerchain is good. U will see result so fast, i swear. Your teeth will move in position faster with powerchain. 4 front teeth? sap sap sui la...I think it on 6 teeth for about 2-3 months i think. Then no more powerchain.

But i suffer again cos i was showing too much gum. Den doctor uses powerchain on the brackets and attached the chain to the screws on my gum to do a minimal gum treatment. That was the worst pain i ever encounter so far. (dont ask me details of my screws and gum prob, explained too many times)

Currently i'm off powerchain.   Tuning lower gum. Next appt will tune upper gum.

Yes, Karyn is absolutely right!. Dont be lazy and not wear it. Your teeth will move back to awful position if you dont wear. After that you will have to go on braces again. There must be a reason why doctor ask you to wear it. Make it a habit to wear it just like how u have to brush teeth every morning and night.

Thanks. Finally had my braces on today, the conventional one. The whole treatment costed around 5k, excluding the fees for dental filling and scaling. No extraction is needed though. It has been 4 hours and I'm still not feeling the pain, just a bit tight on the teeth. The orthodontist told me the pain will only be felt tonight or tomorrow. Nevertheless, eating with it is a woeful experience. My first meal with braces on took me around 40 mins even though I'm having porridge as dinner and the food will be stuck between the brackets. Haaha.

Haha...Kentcp, you made it sounded like a cult thing to follow if we wear braces.

My advice is ask around for a good orthodontist.
i got an okay but not great ortho and i think he did a mistake on my teeth.
he did'nt want to remove any of my teeth prior to installing in my braces because he said it was a new method. i had too much teeth in my lower jaw that stuffed up my teeth in the first place. now my teeth are in order but i have to get oral surgery done because to make room for all my teeth my lower jaw is now longer than my upper jaw. That's more pain for me so i just wanna say ask the ortho about oral surgery and if you will need it after the braces come off if you don't want to remove any teeth.

Gosh, it's been quite a while since my last post. I'm now in my 7th month of braces. Last month, the doctor asked whether or not I want to extract my teeth as it will give more space for other teeth to move in. He said that it's optional since i will still look ok even without any extraction. However, for today's appointment, he noticed that there's no movement at all from last month, meaning to say that I may need extraction now. Oh gosh, there goes my idea of keeping all my healthy teeth.

Can someone tell me how long does it take for the teeth to close the gap in between after extraction? And is the pain bearable? I had really bad experience in my childhood where the nurse pulled out one of my loose tooth without any anaesthetic. Plus, will the gaps from the missing teeth look obvious? I need to learn not to smile anymore to conceal that ugly holes. Oh well.. Enlighten me please.
