Nikki & Tomatonz, do you guys really eat normally and comfortably with the mini screws on ? For me, even until now (after 2-3weeks), I still can't really chew on my right side (where the screw is). God, I don't know whats gonna happen when I insert one more on my left side. Totally no need to eat already !

Hi Shenay, I think in my case, maybe because the screws are installed on the front (above central & lateral insicor teeth), where I don't really use these teeth to chew on food. Hence I do not feel the pain or pressure when I eat because I dont really get to use those teeth to eat.

For your case, is the screw installed above your gigi geraham (molar teeth)?

After the mouth ulcers recovered, I removed the dental wax that I used to apply on the screws. Now without the dental wax, the head of the screws are not scratching my lips anymore which I thank God for that...

How is your situation now? Do you put dental wax over the screw?

Hope you're okay now smile.gif!

Tomatonz & Nikki : Oh no wonder you guys have no problems eating !! My screw is inserted at a 45 degree angle in between my last two back tooth. These are the tooth I use to chew meat and all. So when I start chomping, the hard meat will hit the top of the screw and I'll feel the pain !

Tomatonz : Haha it's doing good at all times except the eating part. I hardly get ulcers from it, so I do not use dental wax ^^

Shenay, maybe it's going to do you good... you can "jaga" your weight also since your teeth won't allow you to chew on hard food haha... it's quite positive also haha...

I went to dr. How last week to fix my loosen brackets. Then doctor told me that he will move my screws to the back. I dunno whats the purpose for that tho.

To close gaps? Or to pull back somemore my overbite? I'm stil not too sure wor.

Since Shenay says that it causes problem while you eat, now I'm worried. Sigh.... Oh well, if really can't eat well then i shall treat it as diet program.... sad.gif

Nikki, you mean move it to the back, upper jaw or lower jaw ? I think on the lower jaw is worst, but the upper jaw, you will find some difficulties in eating too. Ugh I'm always on soft food now sad.gif

NikkiDaTeddy, wow, I thought the treatment ends there! Now wanna move the screws to the back?! Adui...

LalaBubbles: I would say go to the place where it's easier for you to go for monthly fixing. Sometimes, the brackets might come off and you need to fix them. Sometimes, you need the wires to be cut off it it bothers you a lot (hardly but possible). So, if your ortho is near your place where you are most frequent then it'd be easier for you, cuz the whole process usually lasts from 1.5 - 2.5 years depending on your condition. For e.g: I have a cousin who went to study in korea. She did her braces in Malaysia but during the treatment, she had to go to korea to study. So, what she did was to do it all over again in korea cuz takkanlah come back and forth between Msia and korea every month... Hope this helps.

Hi LalaBubbles,

I also asked your question regarding teeth extraction during braces treatment previously hehe (I guess this is normal la for everyone). It's actually case base. Some don't need to remove, some need. Like me, 4 of my healthy teeth were removed to make room for other teeth. My friends who weren't on braces treatment all said, so pitiful and sayang to remove healthy teeth.

So far, I have no complain. Been wearing braces for about 9 months now. People say my face (jaw) has become smaller. I also notice that. My face shape has changed from like square/round to heart/oval shape because 4 teeth were removed and now the teeth are in order compared to my previous condition.

About the two types of braces, I have no comments. I'm sure other members will be able to offer advice on that. I think I am using Lotus braces.

Well, hope everything works well for you smile.gif!

Yeah, agreed with tomatonz..

I had 7 of my teeth extracted(4baby teeth n 3 permanent teeth)... before putting on braces approx 3 years ago. Im now done with braces, n wearing retainer only at night.

Regarding.. synergy-R and damon.. I ve no idea. Types of braces were selected by my dentist.

I'm happy with the results as i got many good compliments. n, hope it goes well to u too! wink.gif

if u intend to work in penang, then go for penang.. if u intend to work in kl, then kl.. hmm.. i am studying in kl too but i chose to do in penang. I am only required to go back for appointment every 2 months as i am using self ligating type.. sometimes more frequent. but most of the time almost 2 months only go back once.. hope this helps smile.gif

Went for another extraction today. One wisdom tooth and the tooth above it. GOD ! This extraction is so much worst than the other day ! Hurts like mad because its infected sad.gif Seriously, damn traumatizing ! So thankful I don't need to do anymore extractions in future ! Didn't manage to insert any screws today although I initially wanted to have my last 3 inserted. Too afraid of the after math. Hopefully I'll be able to get it done in 2 weeks time (6-weeks appt.). I really hope this is the end of the torturing & that i'm gonna see results !!
