Guys out of topic a bit but just want to say I thought my op6 oos is clean of bloatware compared with other chinese phone but I just bought xiaomi black shark global edition and this is the cleanest skin I know… zero bloatware very suprise… good to know china phone is going less bloatware unlike samsung huawei doh.gif

And yes I know some of u will say I bodo razor 2 black shark 2 and rog will soon out but to me all of them will use sd845 so not much upgrade also rog is going to cost at least rm3.5k doh.gif probally true for razor 2 as well..anyway the black shark is a great phone if u want a dedicated phone just for gaming!

So for me my op6 will be my main phone and the black shark will be my gaming phone… both sd845… wub.gif so hype!!!

Oneplus don't have much additional apps so it seem like no bloatware, but it have many other services running, normally just the system running services take up around 3GB of RAM. In comparison Mi A1 system running services only take up 1GB RAM.

If I'm not mistaken OOS actually keeps a few apps (the Camera app included) cached in RAM at ALL times, hence the snappiness. Also there are certain other services like the screenshot editor, Dashboard and Dirac (which you can of course disable if you wanted to with root) - but yeah, while OOS is "near" stock, there's actually more stuff going on in the background than you'd think.

But heck, if you've got like 8 bloody gigs of the stuff that's what I'd do too (perma-cache system processes), and 5GB free left over is still no joke (3GB left over in the 6GB version is still a rather decent amount also). Plus most of the "extra" services are useful too, like the screenshot editor (which is hella useful IMHO).

Well at least they're not trying to shove an entire other "ecosystem" up our behinds (and the accompanying background processes) like certain other brands.

A bit tldr, so I'm gonna spoiler this lol.

Well, back to my original intent, all I'm saying is while yes custom flashing still kinda sorta voids the warranty (especially with AP sets), it shouldn't be too much of an issue if you're careful, which you seem to be. So yeah, it's not really worth worrying about.

As for colour, yeah the Red one has a glossy back like Mirror Black. The depth of the color underneath is more like Silk White though, with shades of red, yellow and orange depending on how light hits it.

It's so nice, I would have gotten the Red myself if it came in 8/256 TBH lol.

I've received my OP6. Testing OOS for the first time........ the OS doesn't seem half bad, pretty decent actually. I might not need to use any custom ROMs. What do you use if I may ask?

I should also mention this A6000 either already comes with play, or google play was installed via an online google restore.

Usually local A6000 sellers pre-flash the global ROM (aka OOS) on our device (which comes with Play), because otherwise most A6000 units actually come with HOS (which does not).

As for ROM, I'm actually just rocking stock OOS 5.1.11 right now, rooted + custom kernel (Franco) and modded to my tastes though Nova, Substratum, GravityBox, and a host of other tweaks.

Haven't really had the urge to go full Custom yet TBH.

So actually if I were to get the a6000 version, no problem if flashing to global rom or custom rom? Would it brick the phone somehow by doing that?

OP phones aren't region locked, fortunately enough. So yeah it really doesn't matter whichever way you go (unless upgrading or downgrading Android versions ler, but yeah that holds true for every phone anyway).

For now lar.

You still lose those 3 extra cellular bands that the A6003 has though, but that's about it.

Looking at OOS it doesn't seem as bloated as i once thought it would... Was thinking to flash one of the custom kernels for wireguard,.. thats about it.

Would you agree? Or have you found some bloat in oos that one would like to remove?

Whenever I run camera app, almost all my frequent apps is cleared from the RAM. When I switch back to these apps I need to wait for it to reload back into RAM. Sometimes a bit frustrating. Maybe just the camera app need to use 4-5GB RAM.

OOS system RAM usage is no joke. My phone usually would be like 3GB for system, then 1GB for running apps. 2GB seems like not bad, but when see cached process page, 4GB is used by system and running apps then about 1.3GB is apps that's cached. So in reality only left about 600MB RAM for opening apps that's not cached. Some of my frequent used app is about 200-300MB in size, usually these apps that the system will clear from RAM whenever I open less frequent used app.

Last time during Nougat still not bad, OOS just use around 1.8GB RAM for system, start from Oreo it use additional 1GB RAM sweat.gif
Then start feel the RAM is not enough. I flashed custom ROM before on 1+3 and system memory just use 1.5GB RAM. Free cache still got 2.5GB RAM, enough to open few seldom used apps with affecting my frequent user apps. But I still prefer stock ROM, apart from the RAM management.

Tbh, after using Oxygen since the OP3, I dont think you would need to use custom roms or kernels. Not much bloatware that needs to be removed as FW is already slick and smooth enough. This is not OP1/OP2 times anymore. Oxygen has really improved a lot and it should be one of the leading FWs on android just slightly behind vanilla android. Btw, if you still wanna mod your phone, you can ask King of Root seng89. He has customer kernels for his OP6.
