Using AC1200 now... able to hit 350mbps yesterday.

Did some research and AC3100 can hit around 900mbps in 5ghz wireless but it's at 5 foot range if not mistaken.

I’m not worried about the wireless speed using my phone, 300-400Mbps sounds amazing oredi for me. What do u really benefit 800Mbps over 400Mbps on phones?

I’ll definitely take advantage of that 800Mbps speed for my wired devices like Mac, android boxes and 4K tvs. For laptops, you’ll need a good one with gigagbyte wlan to enjoy 800 speed. MBP for instance.

Most importantly, with this turbo speed, bandwidth via vpn will be greatly improved!

surveying routers around since yesterday until today..

rounded down to these few good ones:
- TP-LINK Deco M5 AC1300 2 pack - RM555
- Mikrotik hAP - RM580
- ASUS RT AC66U - RM 625
- Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream AC1900+ Mu-Mimo Gigabit Wi-Fi Router (EA7500-AH) - RM 699

Anyone used these routers above? can help to do a quick speed test via wifi if you already on 500mbps? not interested with Archer C7 though..
*
Y not Mikrotik hAP ac2? but it shd be capped ard 400mbps
Linksys EA7500 shd able to handle 500mbps subject to distance...

Does your receiving capability matter ? Or is the router the bottleneck ? I might get a better router in the future.

I know it cost RM350, but that is the least I can recommend for you if you want to have a stable connection. It is highly probable that the problem you are facing is caused by your router, which is the TP-Link C1200 v1. It does cost a bit more if you get your own router, but think of it as long-term investment, if you are using your Internet everyday, it is a VERY good investment as it evens out in the long run.
*
Over the long-run if it saves me the trouble and headache, it will be fine to part with RM 350. No doubt.

LOL I think my router is an older model than TP-Link C1200 v1. Super legacy, it's the white one. Will check the model when I get home.

Thanks for all the advice!

Does his BTU or router support the speed? Otherwise, call 100 and let them sort it out on their end.
*
according to him, his speedtest doesn't even improve one bit to 60mbps or 70mbps, so definitely something's wrong at TM side.

Any brand that supports AC1900 should be okay.
