Hi all, quite frustrated with my Unifi. Using the old provided TP-Link router (no 5 GHz, non-AC)

Complained to the customer service and they mentioned that it's a router fault and requires a change.

If it's truly the router issue, I'd be amazed 🤔

Today the whole day it's been down since morning. Anyone have a similar issue? How did you solve it? Thanks in advance!

Old and faulty hardware might degraded or disconnected you randomly when overheated.

Get a notepad cooler and adjust low wifi power consumption,
If continues, time for UBAH new router...

Thanks!

Has been a persistent problem. 🤔 Never thought of using a cooler. What's your setup like? Only issue is my router is mounted on the wall. Been like that since we upgraded to unifi.

Guess it's time to do a little bit more planning in terms of placement to fully maximise the range. The house is a bangalow so not much interference from other networks. None really in range.

Routers are so expensive 😥😥😥

Change your router. Get the TP-Link Archer C7 v5 or v4, or else renew your contract and sign another 24 months, and ask them to renew your entire equipment.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will do some research before proceeding 😀

Perhaps you meant this as a harmless joke but if you have the faintest idea of the background that ppl come from, I think it would be best to refrain from comments like that 😐

And from what I've found so far, the TP-Link Archer C7 costs RM 350 leh

Chill bro, of course it's just a joke...

Facts is what you pay is what you get, if everyone wanna good router, of course the price also costly then. (Beside that model, still got many cheaper model for replacement.)
Otherwise, you can lodge complain to TM if you can proof that it's your BTU faulty (ask for replacement) or asking for new equipment (if under 12-mths warranty/ or renew contract)
*
Yup that's true.

Good no cheap, cheap no good tongue.gif In typical scenarios that is.

Made a report today. Will see what they say once they check outside the house + inside. Can expect they will suggest changing the router. It's likely that I'll ask for them to renew the contract to the new UniFi advance plan. Thought of changing to Maxis, since same infrastructure but TM is still king; unless you're lucky enough to be covered by TIME blink.gif

TIME if for high rise buildings so far...
Renew contract is better and free...

Yup, that's definitely option 1. Will see once they get back to me within the next few days.

Thanks for the input smile.gif

I know it cost RM350, but that is the least I can recommend for you if you want to have a stable connection. It is highly probable that the problem you are facing is caused by your router, which is the TP-Link C1200 v1. It does cost a bit more if you get your own router, but think of it as long-term investment, if you are using your Internet everyday, it is a VERY good investment as it evens out in the long run.
*
Over the long-run if it saves me the trouble and headache, it will be fine to part with RM 350. No doubt.

LOL I think my router is an older model than TP-Link C1200 v1. Super legacy, it's the white one. Will check the model when I get home.

Thanks for all the advice!

Reported incident in prior post on Thursday morning (6 or 7 AM). Probably due to Hari Raya Haji, lots of the technicians were off (assuming), finally today TM contacted me. The house was without internet for 6 days : /

They came to check the dBm reading. It was 40+ O.o
Checked the different points in my house, and it was actually the main hub outside the house. Cleaned it and now the reading is 17.58.

Gosh. So much trouble over a dirty fibre cable.

Thanks for everyone's input throughout the ordeal. Will be waiting to see if/when the line gets upgraded to 100mbps. Been reading that they have been sending out e-mails and some have reported to have been upgraded already (mainly in the Selangor area).

Is it a waiting game for everyone?
