wanna clarify regarding DIR-850L, with the theoretical 300mbps wifi speed and my intel 8265 wifi card, connected on 5hz wifi and closed proximity(laptop and router) .
I did a few tests using tm speedtest, on a 300mbps account, the speed i get is around DL 233mbps and UL 53mbps , is this speed considered acceptable? anyone manage to get higher wifi speeds with similar hardware? |

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Sep 1 2018, 01:28 PM) Intel 8265 wifi card? In theory, it could reach 400Mbps with wifi link speed of 867Mbps. So, not acceptable, you can get max 300Mbps and upload of 100Mbps. QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 1 2018, 05:42 PM) Not really acceptable, but the router itself is not that good. That could contribute to the lower speed that you have. i see, thanks for info, so it may be due to router limitations , rather than something wrong with the unifi port/line?Nothing else, besides the 5GHz coverage as you say. Your router supports 300Mbps for sure. so, i think it is best to buy a cat 5e cable to test the actual speed i get, then only complaint and ask for port/line reset from TM ? |

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Sep 1 2018, 07:13 PM) Just to be sure, test with CAT 5e cable. Don't TM stock router has extra cable bundled? cable speed ok, so it probably router wifi limitations. The upload speed for 300mbps account is about 50mbps , seems quite low when compared to download speed. |

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Sep 1 2018, 07:43 PM) Try with Cat5e or Cat6. Test first with cable, and if you still getting low speed, it is something else. If you get full speed on cable, it is the router’s problem. yes, tested, and it is a router limitations, oh well...QUOTE(JohnLai @ Sep 1 2018, 08:11 PM) Wait lor....pilot phase mah.....or you could contact tm live chat and ask if your unifi account speed is capped correctly....... well, gonna plan to wait, i thought it is low because there is no official announcement about the upload speed, so i wonder if 300/50 is expected. hope there will be an official announcement regarding the DL/UL speeds soon. |
