guys, do i need to do engine flush if i wanna change brand and type of the engine oil?

my current mileage is near 90k, plan to changes from brand A semi to Brand B full syn

using Persona SV here

i use from cap kerang, rock oil, petro canada, and now liqui moly, never do engine flush.
conclusion, no need.

becareful as some of the product will damage your engine...
its better just to change the EO only than use engine flush agent...
later your entire engine need to overhaul

Guys, i am experiencing jerking on my persona especially during low speed. I have sent the car to reset the ECU twice , cleaned throttle body, replaced spark plug , but the problem persists. Any solution to resolve the jerking issue ?

My persona feels really sluggish. Need to press to 3k+ RPM only feel like its moving.

Is it due to EO? Previously was using Liqui Moly now using Petronas Syntium 3000. Mileage now around 114k km. Next service 120k km.

Or maybe due to IAFM? How to know if its from IAFM?

Or is it due to other things? Hmm.

Was it you or wklow28 bro who had the same problem last time? Have you rule out TCU problem if your drive is AT?


Have you changed a new air filter? It's always a cheap fix for me. Petronas EO tend to degrade faster for my ride. Around 3,000km after oil change I already can feel engine noise coarse, could be because of that, could be not. If IAFM it's the famous diesel-engine like tak tak tak sound. Can easily get diagnosed and fixed in Zordaq, or other shop that provide IAFM repair.

you mean the gearbox problem ? i have changed the gearbox oil too not too long ago.

I was thinking along the line of your TCU connector issue.. but better investigate from cheaper parts like engine mounting mentioned by @anakMY bro.

Hopefully not either throttle body spoiled, or wiring issue.

For ypur reference, last time i got issue throttle body stuck at certain position, ended up the car can only max 2k rpm, drive slow slow to a workshop which said it's throttle body spoiled, so tukar one. Didn't solve the problem, workshop ask me to get help from proton edar & tow to there.

Proton Edar plentong was kind enough to test all components from accelerator pedal, ECU, and throttle body by trying new ones on my car, in the end they didn't found anything wrong with these parts. So they proceed to check the most troublesome component: the wiring bundle.

They trace the wiring bundle from throttle body to ECU, cutting open hoping to find an exposed wire or short, eventually they didn't found anything except the bundle was wet. After they let it dry, and packed back the bundle, and probably planning to call me for saying this is out of their repairing skills, my car started fine. Worst part of the story is since proton didn't change any parts, they only charge me RM60 OBD scanning fee. Making me feel so bad.

Get your car scanned for OBD code bro. Then only you can work on it. And you really need to meet good Samaritan like Proton Edar that do the free job for me. Wiring problem a lot of workshop outside not willing to do since it's time intensive and low revenue generation.

Edit: Anyway i got an all new Persona Elegance throttle body sitting somewhere in my store room. If you in JB i can pass to you for testing. Lol

As mentioned previously, there workaround solution to your complain is... Change car! This is the normal behavior of our car to rev up and down during traffic jam slow moving maneuver, sometime the gear confused and reluctant then suddenly change, thus the "jerking". You can't accept this behavior then have no choice other than looking for another car...

Or get a manual tranny like me? 😋

My H-Line auto 2010 also got jerking problem but only when the car stops while gear is at D. once in a while it will rev up. so when i stop i change gear to N. any idea what's wrong?
