Guys , I have been told by the mechanics my rear weheel bearing need to be replaced. I was quoted RM100 ++ for a normal bearing , RM200++ for better quality one... Why the bearing so expensive ? Just curious ... My rear is equipped with disc brakes with ABS. I'm wondering the abs and non abs version bearing are different ? My car clocked 50k KM in 3 years time . Why the car so many problem ? haha

QUOTE(voscar @ Sep 29 2018, 04:22 PM) You uses as grab is it? What's the current mileage? If mileage exceeding 200k km and many problems, time to change car then. If not mistaken, Proton design Campro engine with 200k km target for service life, so there's reason for parts failing beyond that. Of coz there are many goes beyond and even till 800k km I have seen, but maybe they already changed quite number of parts for maintaining it? No , it's a second hand car btw. 50k km clocked in 3 years. The engine itself is ok ... Just the absorber , mounting , bearing ..... Seems like it's not going to last .... However , I really enjoyed driving he car , so stable compared to other car... I have changed brake pads , absorber mounting so far .... I was just told that the absorber , mounting , bearing need to be replaced as well . This post has been edited by delsoo: Sep 29 2018, 04:31 PM

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Sep 29 2018, 06:26 PM) How often you drive your car? Thing with bearing is it's wear and tear. I haven't changed mine as of now with 329,000km clocked in 7 years. I won't be surprised if need to change la.. I stood by original parts. If can get original. If cannot just use best quality possible. i just bought the car last year . In this half year , I drove 5000km so far. Total mileage is 56k km now

QUOTE(voscar @ Sep 29 2018, 08:13 PM) On my gen2 it's KYB. You can get cheaper Proton original at Zordaq, their price very competitive. Come with Proton packaging and stamp. Is it possible to get Proton original parts at spare part shop outside ? Not those OEM parts

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 29 2018, 08:56 PM) 700 is the normal price, but better to change the filter and valve together la.. try to check in a different shop if they overfilled your compressor. Sometimes that happens, they put it too much gas and it feels too heavy and kicks in and out very fast. Im using NTN rear bearings, around RM95 a side for non ABS persona. For ABS maybe a bit more expensive, but not till RM200 level expensive. Its a very good OEM one. Yes there are different ones for ABS and non ABS persona. Non ABS persona uses drum at the back, ABS uses disc. So the bearing design is totally different. APM slightly stiffer than stock, KYB feel like stock. The ABS version of persona can use non ABS version bearing ?

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Oct 9 2018, 12:25 AM) Tried press and hold both buttons of remote control for 5 secs? Could be your honk wiring rosak? I got mine damaged (wire sheath exposed) in previous accident and didn't realise it until my air cond guy opens up front bumper to access condenser. Not saying that it's the cause, just would like to highlight how often mechanics or accident repair workshop overlook it. Hi Bro, the picture in post #156 is my B-Line Chiffon Green Nana. XD Would agree to that. I bleed mine every 25,000km though. I clocked almost 5000km per month. Throttle body clean? Got check on that tak? Last time i got wiring problem causing throttle body cannot open fully. Manual transmission here though. Not sure if it's cleaned or not... But the proton sa told me that engine tuning include the throttle body cleaning....

What is the suitable grade oil for persona ? current mileage is 60k , using 10w40 semi synthetic now ... Plan to change to fully synthetic , is it worth ? Since i travel highways alot , is it better to use 10w40 although it's semi synthetic ? Since the car will be used to travel long distance most of the time, will 5w40 and 10w40 offer the same level of protection when the engine is hot ?

QUOTE(benson92 @ Jan 7 2019, 01:22 PM) been using 10-40 for few years now, so far so good, of course 10-30 the engine will be lighter is 10w40 more suitable for my car ? since i am travelling highway using this car quite often... but there's not much choice of 10w40 fully synthetic EO in the market. Currently using LM 10w40 semi.

QUOTE(anakMY @ Jan 8 2019, 10:34 PM) If u read the car manual , they recommend us to use 10w40. I tried before 10w30 , my engine dam noisy. Nowadays I use 5w40 fully synthetic, smooth and quiet engine. 5w40 suitable ya ? haha . quite hard to get 10w40 fully synthetic

QUOTE(anakMY @ Jan 9 2019, 08:17 AM) I don’t think there is any 10w40 fully synthetic on the market. Of course 5w40 is suitable , 40 is the viscosity , 5 is the temperature indicator. yes , i found one lately , LM 10w40 molygen... The 5 means the viscosity under low temp, right ? Since i'm travelling on highway most of the time using this car, so it shouldnt be any problem if i am using 5w40 , right ?Since the engine will be hot most of the time...5w40 and 10w40 should gv the same protection , right ?

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Jan 9 2019, 11:00 AM) 8 years car, 341,018km and clocking. XD The W in viscosity rating means winter. So it doesn't really matter to us in Malaysia. On the side note, IMHO the difference of fully vs semi for our car is the durability of oil base, as in resistance to deterioration. I use semi only because Proton once told me their oil filter is designed to change every 5,000km. So if i use fully, i still need to change oil filter every 5,000km and top up a bit of the oil lost during filter change. I guess there's no hard rule of what oil we use. Just we need to check on other parts that involve in engine oil function. ok , can you suggest some good oil filter that can last up to 10000km ? i am goin to use for fully synthetic oil

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Jan 9 2019, 06:49 PM) Probably my PE 2011 not updated. I have checked both my manual and service booklet. Owners manual only specify grade of engine oils recommended: Service booklet, however are more vague on service schedule: First, they give recommendation of 10,000km service intervals: Then, they did not attach any fine print that's indicated by the asterisk icon. Which lead us to severe usage service schedule, with Proton reserving the rights to alter service schedule as they wish: Then they explicitly recommended 5,000 service interval for harsh driving usage: By the way, delsoo bro. Found a diagram in user manual that you might want to consider to use back 10w40 oils. Bro, I dont really understand the diagram , can you explain please?

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Jan 9 2019, 06:57 PM) Think that is the functioning temperature of each grade of engine oils. If you use 5w40 oils, according to the manual it's not going to work fine with atmospheric temperature of above 20°C, which i personally have not tried and my gut feeling doesn't trust it. ok, then . I will stick back to 10w40 haha
