QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 3 2018, 04:05 PM) U can actually get silicon cam seals.. Cheap and good.. Mine so far so good, never leak after 3 years. Recommend for u to use 40 oil at least.. I tried 30 a few times before, especially when my engine was new and realised my shims were making a lot of noise. So far among the tons of oil I have used, Castrol Edge/Magnatec, Mobil 1 Formula M, Mobil 1 Gold, Liqui Moly are the ones highly recommended. I’m using Tesco fully synthetic nowadays. Quiet engine and very responsive. 10k km still run smoothly.

QUOTE(fatani @ Nov 5 2018, 11:35 AM) just want to share. i only changed the coolant together with timing belt. other than that, nope. and it's working fine. now clocking 190km, so, twice change timing belt, and also twice changing coolant. yes, me too using stock proton coolant..the only thing that i changed on my car is the extractor and the HU. others are stock. even the stock front abs is still performing fine until now. the a/c i never serviced. it's still just as cold. 2011 persona h line. parts that finally damaged since ownership: 1. drive shaft (left) 2. crankshaft sensor 3. Rear abs and, that's it. How much it cosst for each of them?

QUOTE(delsoo @ Jan 5 2019, 10:22 PM) What is the suitable grade oil for persona ? current mileage is 60k , using 10w40 semi synthetic now ... Plan to change to fully synthetic , is it worth ? Since i travel highways alot , is it better to use 10w40 although it's semi synthetic ? Since the car will be used to travel long distance most of the time, will 5w40 and 10w40 offer the same level of protection when the engine is hot ? Ya the car manual recommends 10W40. Depends on your pocket, if u can afford fully synthetic why not? Im using tesco fully synthetic 5W40, RM80-90 during offer. I think both of them can protect your engine when its hot, just that for fully synthetic, the chemicals inside can last longer compared to fully mineral or semi synthetic.

QUOTE(delsoo @ Jan 8 2019, 10:22 PM) is 10w40 more suitable for my car ? since i am travelling highway using this car quite often... but there's not much choice of 10w40 fully synthetic EO in the market. Currently using LM 10w40 semi. If u read the car manual , they recommend us to use 10w40. I tried before 10w30 , my engine dam noisy. Nowadays I use 5w40 fully synthetic, smooth and quiet engine.

QUOTE(delsoo @ Jan 9 2019, 08:09 AM) 5w40 suitable ya ? haha . quite hard to get 10w40 fully synthetic  I don’t think there is any 10w40 fully synthetic on the market. Of course 5w40 is suitable , 40 is the viscosity , 5 is the temperature indicator.

QUOTE(delsoo @ Jan 9 2019, 08:21 AM) yes , i found one lately , LM 10w40 molygen... The 5 means the viscosity under low temp, right ? Since i'm travelling on highway most of the time using this car, so it shouldnt be any problem if i am using 5w40 , right ?Since the engine will be hot most of the time...5w40 and 10w40 should gv the same protection , right ? We are living in a tropical country, our temperature won’t be lower than 10. So the front number doesn’t matter to us. Be it 0,5,10 or 15.

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Jan 9 2019, 11:00 AM) 8 years car, 341,018km and clocking. XD The W in viscosity rating means winter. So it doesn't really matter to us in Malaysia. On the side note, IMHO the difference of fully vs semi for our car is the durability of oil base, as in resistance to deterioration. I use semi only because Proton once told me their oil filter is designed to change every 5,000km. So if i use fully, i still need to change oil filter every 5,000km and top up a bit of the oil lost during filter change. I guess there's no hard rule of what oil we use. Just we need to check on other parts that involve in engine oil function. But the car manual say otherwise, engine oil can be change after 10k mileage.
