good to hear! yeah, it still works very well, still best i can find.

been >2 years, i found no worthy successor for what i want it to do.

got desperate, bought a Q30 for rm300 a few months ago, which is a little bro of Q10pro - fits my requirements for 2nd home theater, mostly for local playback.

the most difficult things to get in a media box are full audio passthru for DDtrueHD, full BDMV menu and auto framerate switching.
i almost bought the z9s but the price was quite a put off. biggrin.gif

yes, z9x... rm750-800.. pricey for a small box 2+16GB, no HDD slot.

specs say it does DV... since this is not google certified, i wud think it means playback in DV.

specs also say "HD audio passthru" - this one is tricky - need confirmation it does ALL of them - DD, DD+, DTS, DTSHDMA, DDtrueHD, DTSX, Atmos.

Zidoo Z9X:

no hdd slot ar? only usb? I only use the ethernet port haha

u need to confirm the pass thru or u need to know whether the player can decodes them?

I dunno much about DV, but I read some users bought HD fury vertex to fully access to DV for display without DV

saw some pics, very nice

i need confirmation if it can passthru all the HD audio streams for AVR to deliver.

see, there are many boxes which can do DTSHDMA, even atmos (riding on DD+) BUT cannot pass thru DDTrueHD - that's not good enough.

and there are those that can do DTSHDMA but not DTSX.

i think the problem is most box players focus on online streams like Netflix and dun care about local playback as that is left to BluRay disc players.

But if no electricity, cannot power on.

So no choice have to RIP. Goodbye Q10.

Now I looking for el cheapo android player.

I only use IPTV, MovieHD apps and Youtube. Not playing any games on it.
Probably getting a TX6S. Hope those movies I download with had Dolby / DTS will work on this.

I suggest just invest a bit more in a true Android TV device instead of a normal Android box. You might want to get a service that relies on Widevine/PlayReady DRM (such as Netflix/Hotstar/some IPTV), and those are only available with a certified Android TV box.

it may be that the power adaptor is faulty - this is a common problem after a few years.

try to find a compatible one, test it.

if u r looking for a box that does local playback, that's easy - just about all of them can do.

diff is the video and audio output quality, very few can beat the Q10pro.

however, if u wish to get into online streaming, esp legit ones like netflix, unifitv, do consider an box with ATV os as already suggested.

Available locally in Malaysia through Lazada/Shopee

Google Chromecast with Google TV - Around RM260ish (only one USB type C for charging. Any other add-on would need a USB Type-C hub with Power Delivery feature, and a new 45W charger)
Mecool KM2 - Around RM250ish (recommended due to dedicated Ethernet port, 1x USB2.0 + 1x USB 3.0)
Amazon Fire Stick 3rd Gen (1080p) - RM200ish
Amazon Fire Stick 4K (non Max) - RM220ish

Have to be imported from China

Mecool KD1 stick (non Netflix certified) - RM170ish

Actually I got a way around it
I put in a fake upgrade file.
So when I want to start the player, I just push the reset button for 10secs and it will be on. So this player will be good for a couple of years more.

Anyway, for your case...I did a lot of research
Depending on how you use the player, I would go for Beelink GT-King Pro. That's all you will ever need.

Those below RM300 are weak machines. No matter the specs.
If compared to the old Himedia you will be very very disappointed.
Himedia specs are tops even compared to today's standard of sub 300 players.

Beelink GT-King Pro
Thanks for info. The price seems quite steep, but based on the pictures and specs on Lazada, it worth the price.

good to hear u found a way round it.

my Q10pro is already 7 years old, still going strong! thumbsup.gif

been seatching high n low for successor for >1 year, concluded there is only zidoo and dune that will fit my needs - mainly local 4khdr/bdmv playback with atmos, dtsx audio.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5191377/+340

not keen on boxes for online streaming as i prefer to do that direct on AndroidTV tvs.

Q10pro is a marvelous box.

At 7-8 years old, it is still v good, only thing it can't do compared to newest boxes is Dolby Vision.

Just a pity they stopped making new boxes.

and yes, keep spare adaptors if u hv - they are interchangeable between Himedia models.
