QUOTE(kskoay @ Sep 6 2019, 11:24 AM) ops...i assume no issue to play any 4k files with Dolby Atmos since this box support it (connection from this box to receiver with Dolby Atmos) not sure what will happen as the box doesnt support for dolby vision. what will happen if i play a 4k Dolby Vision file (example >80G 4k bluray files)? connection from this box -> receiver with Dolby Vision -> TV with Dolby Vision thanks again my guess u might ended up black screen |

those who try to do SAMBA sharing on Windows 10.. remember to turn that Samba 1.0 feature from your windows features.
Click on Turn Windows features on or off link. Expand the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support option. Check the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client option. |

QUOTE(4Rings @ Jan 22 2021, 09:02 PM) I have a Hi Media A5. I would like to use it to listen to MQA and hi res files someday. All I have to do is to buy a DAC that supports these files, is it? dont think himedia support mqa. very limited china product which support mqa.. what is your audio setup? If you serious about mqa you can buy an audio player/network streamer/dac that supports MQA and connect it to your existing audio setup. |

QUOTE(4Rings @ Feb 15 2021, 09:48 PM) I thought of getting a DAC that supports MQA to hook to the Hi Media box. Do you think the Hi Media + DAC ( a budget one, probably around RM500 to 600) can sound as good as an entry level CDP? My amp is Orelle SA100 integrated and speakers are Sony S-SA5 La Voce. Do you think the Hi Media + DAC ( a budget one, probably around RM500 to 600) can sound as good as an entry level CDP?maybe yes maybe no.. CDP work on a constant bit rate 16 bits 44.1khz or 24 bits 44.1khz.. while android they alter the bitrate. If you are perfectionist this is something you would care about... the other point is i dont recall HiMedia support digital out except on HDMI but i think ur HDMI should have hook to TV or AVR. If your HiMedia cannot give u digital out then your DAC will be least meaningful. HiMedia is a budget but decent media player.. The hardware itself was strong compare to the other tv box out there with its stability. But with the price they are asking, they cannot give you hifi grade component.. you can look for another brand like https://www.zidoo.tv/Product/index/model/UH...FMcQ%3D%3D.html They offer decent audio processing chip which support DSD and MQA. This will remove the need to have DAC bought separately. |

QUOTE(dwRK @ Feb 17 2021, 11:00 AM) yes very much agree.. so he can enjoy from both video and audio with MQA. Not much option when it comes to china brand.there are cheaper version but less flexible. https://www.zorloo.com/ztella buy a adapter like this.. 1 end connect to phone another end connect to integrated amp thru rca cable.. mqa codec being send to dac.. the mqa led will lit up |

QUOTE(4Rings @ Feb 17 2021, 02:21 PM) The Hi Media box has an optical out and 2 RCA out (L&R). I don't want to spend so much money on this set up. I would like to enjoy some of the 70s and 80s songs which I have downloaded from internet in FLAC. I tried hooking up my laptop to the integrated amp and the sound quality is like $hit. So I was thinking if a budget DAC would help, at least it could get close to an entry level CDP sound quality. At the moment I am listening to the digital audio files on Hi Media via an Edifier 2,1 speakers. what is your budget? sorry i forgotten about himedia optical out.. you can do a optical out to DAC (topping e30 ~rm500) which support optical in. if you are listening to flac only you do not need mqa.. |
