1. No surprise... the free stuff, free apps inevitably die or eed updates, need new apps.
2. Firmware too old, out of date, buggy.. need to update firmware.
3. The preinstalled youtube is not update... just ignore it. Install new version.

Your case, best to take it to a shop which sell himedia. May need to pay a bit... a bit of work required.

I cant find the thread on upgrading the Q10 Pro firmware. I am on 2.0.6. Is it worth upgrading? If someone can direct me to the thread/link, much appreciated.

Hi,
I had got my new unit. Pretty good so far with the app installed. But some of the app that installed doesn't work with the remote navigation. When i press up down and select on the first screen. It's able to go to the next screen but i think the focus is still on the first page. I can't click up and down button on the 2nd screen, and when i click on the ok button again. It will go to the 2nd option on the first screen.
Any setting or item i need to set ?

it's not about setting but the app design.

most common android apps for built for mobile devices, touchscreen.

to use these apps on box/tv, u need a mouse - wireless or airmouse.

once u plug in a mouse, u can click, scroll, drag... together with remote, everything will work.

However, it uses the same hardware as other HiMedia boxes so all it needs is the installation of the the Media Center and HiMedia/HiSilicon video player apps. if the himedia media player app can be sideloaded to do like what Q10/Q5pro does, incl HD audio, then it is OK, good added value.
if not, it will be just like another ATV box.
2+8gb is limiting... good for regular apps only.
rj45 100mbps, usb2.0, hdmi 2.0b... overall, rather low specs.
for 70 pounds sterling or rm350... not too bad but really paying for the chipset and google certification.

i wonder if compare video (4k HDR) and audio (Dolby Atmos and DTS-X) for local play, Q10Pro vs nvdia shield, which one better?

this vietnam seller jumped the gun to say it does all the HD audio... while futeko says "no guarantee".

this S500 is not going to be a super box for local playback.
at best, it can just do what Q10pro/q5pro does.
perhaps the next 8k model might be able to.
S500 seems to be another box in the race to get google certification, use ATV os.

these boxes....for DV thingy, it didn't mention it is for local playback or streaming (example Netflix)...if only for Netflix then no different compare with the new nvidia shield

yes can. now i m using ziddoo x9s (almost same as himedia box) streaming from NAS Synology DS213j. Been using it for almost a year.

oops sorry, not playing BDMV folder. It can play but i need to choose specific file to be play. BD Menu not supported.
